Wir lesen das Buch nicht jeden Abend, aber so können sich die Kinder auch lange die Geschichten merken. Selbst für uns Erwachsene sind die Geschichten aus anderen Kulturen interessant.

In den kurzen Geschichten treffen wir Kindergartenkinder, die aus ganz unterschiedlichen Gründen mit anderen Nationen und Kulturen zusammen treffen. Da ist das Nachbarkind aus Polen, dass am Ostermontag alle mit Wasser bespritzt, die Oma, die ihre Enkelin ins italienische Restaurant einlädt oder eine andere Oma, die aus Russland stammt und mit der Enkelin in Schwanensee geht. Da werden Kuchen gemacht, in denen eine Bohne versteckt ist oder echtes griechisches Brot gebacken. Wir lernen die schwedische Lucia und den holländischen Sinterklaas kennen. Es ist für alle was dabei und vielleicht gibt es ja auch Kinder, die noch andere Geschichten aus ihrer bzw. der Heimat ihrer Vorfahren erzählen können. Solche Geschichten, die von unserer schönen bunten Welt erzählen, erfreuen die kleinen Zuhörern und sie geben Anstoß zum Miteinander.

Mehr und mehr wachsen unsere Kinder schon ab dem Kindergartenalter mit vielen anderen Kindern auf, die aus anderen Kulturen kommen.
Die bekannte Kinder-und Jugendbuchautorin Susanne Orosz hat zwanzig von ihnen ausgewählt und zu jeder eine eigene Geschichte verfasst, die versucht, zu zeigen, was an dieser Kultur besonders spannend und wertvoll ist.

Die Geschichten sind zum Vorlesen etwa im Kindergarten oder auch noch in der Grundschule gedacht und laden ein, zu Kulturen, die nicht in dem Buch vorkommen, beispielsweise Syrien und Türkei (was ich für einen Mangel halte bei so vielen Kindern aus diesen Ländern in unserem Land) sich vielleicht zusammen mit den von dort stammenden Kindern eigene Geschichte zu schreiben.

Die Idee des Buches ist gut, aber die politische Korrektheit ist in jeder Geschichte so übertrieben und auf die Spitze gebracht, dass es kaum auszuhalten ist.
