Stone Hamilton had never known fear...until the accident. Since then, his life has spiraled out of control. He's been kicked out of private school, deemed a disappointment by his father, and forced to endure his own guilt, anger, and grief. The last thing he wants is a relationship with someone who will have expectations of him. But once he's enticed by the shimmering-pink lips of the oh-so-popular, academically-excelling, straitlaced hottie from his new school, he knows he's in trouble.

Seventeen-year-old Dara Golding has one goal for the summer: make enough money to buy a car, so that she can drive to school her senior year. After starting a new job, she realizes that she'll be working with the brooding, motorcycle-riding, bad boy who started attending Quail Mountain High last year. With his less than stellar reputation, he's everything she's afraid of...and that makes him dangerous.

Their undeniable attraction has Stone struggling with his inner demons. As Dara slowly allows Stone to claim her heart, a little white lie to cover an ugly truth could determine whether she's his savior or the final straw that will break his sanity.

5.0 von 5 Sternen ARE YOU READY FOR THIS? NO CLIFFHANGER!!!!!! 10. April 2013

That's right people, no cliffhanger in this book!!!!! No continuation of this story to be written in a book you have to wait 6-12 months to get. When the book is done, the story is done!!!! This is a typical bad boy meets good girl but he thinks he is not good enough for her. Dara finds Stone dark and brooding when she meets him. And talk about conceited. OMG. When she is around him, her heart rate increases and she finds him "dangerous". Stone has been through a devastating loss in his life and he has a lot of guilt over it so he tries to punish himself by not being happy. He usually only gets involved with girls that do not want any kind of commitment from him. He also has problems communicating with his father because of the guilt he feels. If you like a high school love story with a little twist toward the end, this could be a good book for you. There were no hot and heavy love scenes in this book, so if you are looking for that, you won't find it in this story. I enjoyed reading this book and would definitely read another book from this author. Oh, and did I mention THERE IS NO CLIFFHANGER!!!!!!!

3.0 von 5 Sternen Platypire Reviews 11. Januar 2015

I'll admit that after I read the book, I felt that the synopsis was a tad bit misleading, since reading the first sentence implies that Stone suffered an accident in his past. It isn't until very late in the book that we actually find out what accident happened and the circumstances. The last few chapters felt rushed to me, as shocking secrets are exposed and then the conflict seems to be resolved very quickly. It was unrealistic in a way because Stone's parents are at first shocked and horrified at what has been revealed, but then they seem to just kind of accept it and move on from it like nothing. There should have been more emotion, and Stone's parents ended up feeling like filler characters to move the crisis along.

Now, I'll admit, this story did have its moments. There are very few books that have ever caused me to shed a tear or two, and this book did that to me twice. One was with Dara and her mother, and the second was with Stone and his dad when they had a heart-to-heart. Just out of nowhere, a couple of tears dropped unexpectedly, and I found myself wondering why. I have reasoned that it's because at these points in the story I was very emotionally invested in what was going on.

Another thing I honestly truly loved about this book were the descriptions. They weren't too over the top, nor were they bland. Usually, I never really pay attention to how characters are described physically and end up imagining my own version of them, but this time it was easy to picture the characters as they were described.

Although I didn't love this story, I did enjoy reading it due to the tension that was felt at times. Stone is one of those characters that makes you want to yell at him for his mistakes and his hot/cold attitude.

Overall, this book gets 3.5 Platypires from me.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Teenage Romance 21. Juni 2014
Von Garth R. Mailman - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
Dangerous has two principal characters: Stone, the hard-bodied motorcycle riding loner who just happens to work with Tom at a bookstore and Dara, the pretty socialite who lives with her Grandma, drives her granny’s old clunker and comes to work at the same store to earn money to buy a car of her own. The sexual tension between the two is palpable. The book is written in the first person alternately from each character’s point of view. Will opposites attract and will the bad boy who exudes sexual charisma get the good girl with the good looks and grades, does he even want to.

Stone had a twin named Luke who died in an accident he doesn’t want to talk about. We get the impression that he was somehow responsible. Can he work through his anger and grief to learn to love and commit to someone else? Although the storyline is generally predictable it still manages to throw us a few curves. This is definitely a teenage romance novel but somehow it manages to be more than that.
3.0 von 5 Sternen Not a cliffhanger but...not the entire story either 7. April 2014

I did like the story overall but I do feel like it's more of a young adult read and while it is not a cliffhanger, there are 2 more books to Dara and Stone's story.

Both Dara and Stone are seniors in high school that meet during the summer before their last year in school as they work at a local bookstore that Stone's father owns. Dara is a super sweet good girl that was raised by her grandparents. Stone is a self proclaimed motorcycle bad boy but comes from a very well to do family. They both fight their attraction to each other and it's fun to read to see how their relationship will evolve. There were a few things that felt off to me in their relationship development but overall it does feel real and I found myself wanting them to figure it out and be together as a couple. Dara's Granny is hilarious...I just loved her! As the story unfolds, you learn more about Dara and Stone's past...they each have some pretty heavy emotional baggage that they need to work through on their own but also are holding back from each other. Just as they are finding their way to each other, yep, you guessed it...we have some major drama with Jessie who is/was Stone's on/off again girl and we learn what really happened to Dara's father. I found myself wanting to beat up Stone at the same time that I wanted him to be with good writing there! You do get a happy ending and it's not a cliffhanger, however, as I stated at the beggining, there are 2 more full books about their story.

While I did enjoy their story, I am not sure I'm that invested in them to want to read the addtional 2 books and I am glad, that you can indeed just read this and "feel" like you got an ending to the story so that is a good thing.

I was given this book by the author for my honest review and it's books like these that make me love what I do. Let me tell you that I love Stone Hamilton. He's got dark hair crystal blue eyes and more baggage than you could ever imagine but deep down, once you get past his tough guy exterior, he's the type of guy that " makes a girl forget her own name".
I really enjoyed this book a lot. It was a quick read and I wanted much much more. Thank goodness there are two more books in this series or I'd go nuts.

Ok so Stone is a bad boy, or so he seems. After the accident three years ago his life spiraled down hill. He flunked out of a good boarding school, he started having meaningless relationships and is kind of reckless on his motorcycle. Stone tries to shut everyone out. He loves his mom but is so tired of his dad thinking he's worthless. He's going to prove him wrong by making the bookstore he owns into a a money maker..

Then comes Dara. She's the new summer help at the store but Stone remembers her from school. She was the happy go lucky girl always attached to her jock boyfriend. Dara is beautiful and sweet but total trouble to Stone. He knows he can have any girl he wants but does he want to let her into his life? she's the type of girl that will want to ask questions and Stone isn't ready for that. That's why he dates Jessie. She doesn't ask questions so he can just call her up anytime he wants and it's totally cool. Dara gets to him thoug and he can't seem to stay away even though he knows he should.

Just when things seem to be going good for Stone life throws him another curve ball that leaves him all alone again.
Is Dara worth breaking down his walls and opening up his heart too or will Stone fall back into his loner self being with the girls that are safe?

Fall in love with Stone Hamilton. I dare you not to.
