Der DBT-120 ist besonders klein und findet so mit Sicherheit in jeder Tasche Platz. Er wird an den USB Port des Desktop-Pcs oder Notebooks angeschlossen und bietet hier eine Datentransferrate von bis zu 723 Kbit bei einer maximalen Reichweite von 10 Metern. Bluetooth eignet sich besonders überall dort, wo auf kleinerem Raum Daten schnell und unkompliziert ausgetauscht werden sollen.

Der Adapter entspricht dem IEEE 802.15-Standard für Bluetooth Geräte, sein USB-Anschluss dem USB 1.1-Standard. Der DBT-120 ist damit kompatibel zu anderen Bluetooth Geräten. Die 128 Bit Datenverschlüsselung gewährleistet eine sichere Übertragung ohne unerwünschte Zugriffe von außen.

Sehr guter Bluetooth Dongle, jedoch Schwächen bei XP SPack2

Ich habe mir diesen Bluetooth Dongle gekauft um mit meinem Bluetooth Headset M2500 von Plantronics perfekt Skypen zu können. Ich wählte diesen Dongle, da er unter Windows, Mac und Linux läuft und weil ich bisher eigentlich nur gutes von ihm gehört hatte ( C't ). Leider gibt es anscheinend große Probleme unter Windows XP Service Pack 2, da Windows anscheinend immer den D-Link Treiber mit dem Windowseigenem Treiber überschreibt. Das ist wahrscheinlich eher Microsoft böse anzurechnen, jedoch stört es mich, wenn ich erstmal auf der D-Link Webseite nach "Installationshinweisen für Windows XP Service Pack 2" suchen muß. Nachdem ich diese Hinweise beachtet habe, war die Installation kein Problem und das Headset schnell funktionsfähig.
Somit kann ich den D-Link Dongle uneingeschrenkt empfehlen, wenn man nicht Windows XP Service Pack 2 hat, oder sich soweit mit PC und Internet auskennt, das man diesen Fix selbstständig findet...

Ich habe den D-Link DBT-120 USB Bluetooth Adapter jetzt seit ca. 3 Monaten und bin total begeistert. Mit jedem Gerät, mit dem ich ihn bisher ausprobiert habe funktioniert er einfandfrei. Ich habe ihn ständigen Gebrauch mit dem "Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop for Bluetooth" (Tastatur + Mouse) sowie ab und an mit dem EPoX Presenter BT-PM01B, den ich für Präsentationen nutze.
Neben dem stationären Einsatz ist der Bluetooth Adapter auch bestens für den mobilen Einsatz am Laptop geeignet, da er sehr klein ist und infolgedessen den Nutzer beim Verwenden von einer Bluetooth Mouse zum Beispiel nicht stört. Weiter wirken Präsentationen, die nicht mehr nur per Tastendruck, sondern per Bluetooth Presenter weitergeschaltet werden wesentlich professioneller.

Zumindest am Mac ist das Teil perfekt: Keine Installation erforderlich, einfach einstöpseln und der Computer fragt, ob er jetzt nach bluetooth-fähigen Geräten suchen darf. Die Verbindung klappt ständig.
Einziger Nachteil: Der Stecker ist so klein, dass ich ständig Angst habe, ihn zu verlieren. Gut wäre hier eine Öse, wie sie z.B. bei Memory-Sticks üblich ist.
Also eigentlich nur 4,75 Punkte ;-)

Benutze das Bluetooth-Dongle hauptsäch, um mit meinem Handy Kontakt aufzunehmen. Funktioniert auch recht gut, nervig ist nur das Tastleistensymbol in Windows, es sei kein Bluetooth-Netzwerkkabel angeschlossen. An der Software könnte man also arbeiten. Ansonsten Top, daher 4 Sterne.

Works for my Mac, But....

While I am an old time computer user (started in 1968) I have never owned a bluetooth device until I was recently acquired a Motorola RAZR. I looked around for a way to get the music and ring tones from my older Mac (G4 running OS X 10.4.11) to the RAZR. I found the D-Link device and saw many positive reviews so I ordered one. It arrived and with much fanfare, I opened the box then inserted the device into the end of the USB extension cable. This cable is a high quality shielded cable about 28 inches long I leave plugged into my Adaptec powered hub since my computer does not have a USB port on the front.

I then spent over 4 hours trying to figure out why the bluetooth preference did not show up in the set of system preferences. No mater what I tried it was not there, the bluetooth preference had disappeared. I read the manual, searched the vendor web site, and searched Apples web site all with with no luck.

The most irritating part was that it worked perfectly for my wife on her e-mac. She just plugged it in, opened the system preferences selected bluetooth, followed the on screen directions and installed her ring tone. ( And I am supposed to be the computer expert in our house... Grrrr..)

After I slept on the matter, I unplugged the adaptor from the cable and inserted it directly into the Adaptec powered hub (Not sure why I thought of this) and presto all was right with the world. The setup was a breeze, and I now drag and drop files to and from the RAZR v3xx in true Mac fashion with no problem. (My wife used the USB port on the side of her computer the first time)

Thus in two out of two tries, the device works exactly as advertised - right out of the box. I just wish someone somewhere had told me to beware of cables and plug the device directly into the computer port. Perhaps after you read this you will know to remove the cable if your bluetooth system preference does not show up.

I just received Rev. C, the latest design, of this adapter, but the enclosed instructions and software were not for Windows Vista, just XP. I have Vista Home Premium for 64bit. I attempted to use the setup disc and found that if you have Vista, you should not follow the installation instructions nor use the enclosed set up disk. The packaging included an orange notice that if one has a problem installing the adapter to go to the D-Link support site. That was the tip I did not pick up on. I should have assumed there would be a problem as there was. Vista told me that the driver on the disc is provided by Toshiba, not D-Link, and Vista will not let it be installed. I did attempt to install it and after 4+ hours of trying I went to the Toshiba web site and downloaded the latest driver for Vista and Rev. C of the adapter. That driver package includes the driver for the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Vista. However the first setup.exe file you find attempts to remove the Toshiba driver provided with Vista, but Vista stops that file from completing the removal. Then I found a 2nd setup.exe file deeper into the Zip file. That one worked, finally. D-Link should have included installation instructions for Vista and all of the drivers. I will not buy another D-Link item again.

I purchased this to use with my Logitech Mobile Freedom Bluetooth Headset, as well as my Motorola RAZR V3 phone. Both work fine. It took some doing to get the headset to work with it. This turned out to be because you must pair the headset, then set the bluetooth audio as the default play / record device in the Audio control panel, and THEN quick-connect to the headset. I suppose all this isn't necessarily relevant to the review, but maybe it'll help someone else out or save them some time.

My one complaint at this point is that the "System Properties" "Hardware" page keeps popping up from time to time, and always on start-up. I'm not sure why it happens, but it's not often enough to really bother me. Uninstalling / reinstalling the accompanying software hasn't helped. Also, I expect other adapters might do the same because almost all of them use the same Widcomm driver (including this one), just with different branding.

Sometimes you just know that a product is going to be a disaster, and sometimes you know it will be a delight. Alas, I quickly started getting 'disaster' vibes - even during the installation process with the D-Link DBT-120.
The installation (onto my XP Professional OS Dell laptop) was different on screen than suggested by the user guide on the CD and Quick Install Guide. A bad start. It required two reboots during the course of the install - surely unnecessary with Win XP. And, most objectionable of all, I had to key in a 32 character security code to 'register' the software - how stupid is that?
Anyway, eventually I got it installed and working, but it was very difficult to understand or use. For example, what do you think that an 'Object Push Link' is? Whatever it is, I have two of them now!
The software would occasionally generate error messages that sometimes didn't seem to mean anything, and other times probably did!
Anyway, after a month of not using it, I needed to use it again with my Nokia 3650. But when I went to use it, I could no longer get the devices to communicate, and after speaking with T-Mobile's helpful customer support, we identified the problem - a missing D-Link driver.
So, I called D-Link's misnamed customer 'support'. After 3.5 hours on the phone (sure, with several disconnects during that time) and speaking with four different people, none of whom could solve my problem, a supervisor interrupted to say that it wasn't their responsibility to fix the missing D-Link driver so that it would talk to the outside world!!! The 'level two' support person who'd been struggling to help me said he had to therefore end the call and couldn't help any more. He suggested I place a message asking for help in a news group!
The software interface is impossible to understand and when it doesn't work, you're on your own. Unacceptable in all respects.

I have two of these, both are ver. B4. One I use on my Mac OS X machine, which runs 10.4. I applied the applicable firmware update (see Apple KB No. 120276) so that I could use my bluetooth headset with it on my macintosh. Both of my bluetooth headsets work well on the mac with this adapter.

The other one I got for my laptop, which runs gentoo linux and windows. The Dlink works flawlessly on the 2.6.19 kernel (works under 2.6.20 as well) with the standard btsco/btsco-kernel setup.

Oddly enough, the most trouble I had with this device was under windows xp. I tried using the drivers that came on the install CD, but for some reason, I could not get sound/audio to work when using Skype. I tried with two different headsets, so I know it's not a headset issue (plus both headsets worked fine with Skype on the mac and linux). Not sure what's going on here, but it looks like the drivers that come with the dongle aren't very good.
