Michael Morpurgo's inspiring new story of Robbie, a boy in a coma -- victim of a car accident. Locked inside his own head, able to hear but not move or speak, Robbie tries to keep himself from slipping ever deeper into unconsciousness. Robbie, football fan and animal lover, runs after his dog one day when he chases a cat and is hit by a car. Unconscious, but conscious, Robbie lies in hospital, unable to speak, move or eat. But he can hear; he is aware, even though his family and friends don't know this. Inside his head, we hear Robbie's thoughts; on his Mum and sister, why his parents are separated. His friends and family try desperately to reach him -- even Zola, his favourite Chelsea footballer, comes to see him. And still Robbie can't 'wake up'. Until one day, against hospital rules, Dad brings Lucky into the hospital. Can Lucky bring Robbie back to life?

I had to read the book for school, but I don’t regret it. It is easy to read and really exciting, because you wait for him wake up. It is perfect for 10-12 years old kids. The beginning is a bit strange, but you understand it at the end. Over all it is a really clear and “Cool!” book! (Anna M.)
The ,,coolest book Id’ ever read
I often thought about how it is to lie in a coma. The author wrote it very explanatorily! It is for people, who like real stories. At many times it is very emotional. The words are mostly easy! The font size is not that small and not that big. I like this book very much. I want to read more of those books. I can really recommend it! (Anna H.)
Best book ever
The book “Cool” was the most emotional book I’ve ever read. It made me think about those people who lie in coma and are locked up in their own heads. I also have a small dog and from now on I will be more attentive that such a horrible accident won’t happen to me. I didn’t understand every word but I skipped them and the book still made sense. After I finished one chapter I always wanted to know what happens next and so it didn’t take me a long time to finish the book. I also like the book because it is not only emotional but also funny and exciting. The descriptions of the characters were very good, too. All in all this book is very “cool” and I can really recommend it! (Leonie)
Cool, is very cool!
I like the book very much! I was sometimes very sad but at the end I was happy that Lucky and Robbie were alive! ;) The beginning is a little bit unclear but in he end you will understand it! :-) (Lena)
I liked the book, because it is very clearly written. The pictures are perfectly drawn. I am very thankful, that we had to read the book. (Katharina)
I like the book very much, but sometimes it was very sad. When the accident happened I felt very sad. You learn much when you read the book. How it feels when you are in coma. And what people do for you to wake up. Everybody hopes you will wake up. They do everything for you. I can recommend the book. (Christina)
I found the book very cool. Sometimes it is very sad. But often it is funny. It was cool when Lucky was there or when Robbie’s dad read from the BFG. I recommend the book. But you should not read the book if you cry often. (Christoph)
I think this book was at the beginning a bit boring, because there nothing exciting happened. But then it is really sad, and I felt very sad too. The best thing in the story is that many people say something. That makes the story livelier. It is cool, that the end is good and everybody is happy. All in all it is one of the best books I have ever read. (Clemens)
The ,,COOLEST” book
I like the book. It's not too hard to read. But there is also some vocabulary that I didn't understand. The best parts are the one with his hero Gianfranco Zola or the moment when he finds out that his dog Lucky lives. Allover it's a really COOL book. (Lukas)
The book was very cool. Lucky is a very good dog, Robbie thought that Lucky was dead. It was very cool when Zola came, the best footballer for him. Zola played for Chelsea. The end of the book was the best because Robbie came out from coma (Moritz)
I found the book sometimes boring but sometimes exciting and sad. After the car accident Robbie lies in coma. He can hear his family but he cannot move or speak. Even the football player Zola comes and visits him. It looks like Robbie will die but they never give up and make him alive. (Paul G)
I think it’s a very nice book to start reading English books, because it has a happy ending. It’s also exciting story. That’s why I like the book. (Tristan)
Für unseren 14-jährigen Sohn mit 4 1/2 Jahren Schulenglisch war das Buch zu wenig anspruchsvoll und nicht spannend genug.
