Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende
Richard Bandler's books have sold more than a half a million copies worldwide. Tens of thousands of people, many of them therapists, have studied his blend of hypnosis, linguistics and precise thinking in the United States, Europe, and Australia. Bandler is the author of Trance-formation, Using Your Brain--for a Change, Time for a Change, Magic in Action, and the Structure of Magic. He coauthored Frogs into Princes, Persuasion Engineering, The Structure of Magic II, and Magic in Practice.
Owen Fitzpatrick is a psychologist, hypnotherapist, coach, and cofounder of the Irish Institute of NLP and the youngest licensed NLP master trainer. Fitzpatrick has helped thousands of people with a wide range of problems and is one of Europe's top motivational speakers. He is the host expert on a primetime Irish television show, Not Enough Hours. Visit www.owenfitzpatrick.com.
The hypnotic talent of the authors shows in how much one gets cought up between the pages. Fitzpatrick and Colbert, his partner, are two new stars in the sky of NLP, if my opinion counts. And this book is a great example of the "why" that is so.

He reveals he co-wrote this book with Bandler at Bandler's request. Much of the book is him applying NLP techniques and Bandler's philosophies to his own life and patients as well as his own learnings as he makes his way around the world. Periodically he meets up with Bandler with his voice recorder and asks him big questions like: How do people get stuck? How do people find meaning in their lives? and other fun stuff. He took all that info and edited it down to probably 20-40 pages of the book is direct quotes from Bandler in answer to his various questions about and people and life.
There is a neat little feature in the book where hidden within the book are the 6 things Bandler says hold people back from living the kind of life they want.
Owen is an entertaining writer and there are plenty of fun insights into Bandlers thoughts, some of which have been covered in his others books but many were new to me (having read all of both he and Grinders work many times it was refreshing to get some new opinions) referring to Sigmund Freud as "Sick Man Fraud" caused a chuckle.
The book is largely in the form of stories, mostly those of Fitzpatrick's, woven around portions of conversations he recorded with Richard Bandler. The conversations are vintage Bandler, and go a long way to capture many of the concepts he presents in his seminars.
This is a guided tour for self discovery and new ideas, not a collection of NLP techniques. There are some great exercises to go through, and there's even an Easter egg hunt. I found I didn't agree with all the concepts and world-views presented, yet I came away with a sharper sense of my own values along with some new perspectives.
I read the book cover to cover, return to it from time to time. It's well worth experiencing.
