Kurzbeschreibung

New York Times and USA Today Best-Selling Paranormal Romance Author Felicity Heaton presents:

Claimed by a Demon King (Eternal Mates Paranormal Romance Series Book 2)
The moment the demon King Thorne of the Third Realm set eyes on the mortal huntress Sable, he knew she was his fated one. The fiery, dangerous female awakened hungers he had never experienced before, a dark craving and passion that has consumed him in their time apart. As the lunar cycle wanes, she enters his world again and nothing will stand in the way of him claiming his forever with her—not the relentless assault from the Fifth Realm or the dark elf male determined to seduce her out of his grasp.

Intent on achieving the coveted position of commander at Archangel, Sable leads her small team into the dark underworld and the Third Realm, to a war where her allies are the very creatures she normally hunts—vampires, werewolves, and demons. Her eagerness to lead the deadly mission has everything to do with winning her promotion, and nothing to do with the kingdom’s brash, lethally seductive demon king—a king who stirred fierce desire and wildfire heat in her with just a look and an innocent touch when they first met, and has been in her wicked dreams ever since.

As the gathering storm between rivals unleashes irresistible passion that flares white-hot and the heat of the battle brings life-shattering realisations, can Sable place her duty before her heart? Or will she surrender to her deepest desires and be claimed by a demon king?

Februar 2014
Von Sarah (Feeling Fictional) - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
I really enjoyed Kissed by a Dark Prince and have been looking forward to reading this sequel ever since, Felicity Heaton has certainly got a hit on her hands with her Eternal Mates series and Claimed by a Demon King was just as good as I thought it would be. We already met both Sable and Thorn in the previous book but I really enjoyed getting to know them both better here.

Sable is a demon hunter for Archangel, she has spent years training with the single goal of becoming one of their commanders and now is her chance to prove herself. She has been put in charge of leading a team of hunters to the underworld where they have agreed to help the demon king Thorn protect the Third Realm and win the war against his enemies. She will do whatever it takes to make sure her mission is a success, especially as it almost guarantees her a promotion when she returns home at the end. Thorn's realm has been at war for centuries but with the help of the elves, vampires, werewolves and hunters he hopes to finally bring peace to his people. The first time he saw Sable he knew she was his eternal mate but as much as he wishes to claim her he doesn't want to force her into something she isn't comfortable with, as the danger increases he must decide what is more important though - claiming Sable or protecting his people.

We had already seen Thorn's attraction to Sable in the first book so it was no surprise to discover that he had recognised her as his mate. What did surprise me was that he was so willing to go slowly with Sable and let her take the lead in their relationship. He recognised how special she was and he knew that forcing her into something that she wasn't ready for would just break things between them beyond repair. Sable is a warrior, someone who is fierce and proud and she wouldn't take kindly to being pushed too far. I loved how she is prepared to stand up for herself and for those she cares about, once she realises that she has feelings for Thorn she wants to prove that she is strong enough to be his queen and that she will fight for him just as much as he fights for her. What I love about this series is that although you have soul mates who recognise each other immediately the couples still take time to get to know each other and you get to see them gradually fall in love. There may be instant attraction because of their bond but the respect, friendship and love takes time to grow. Sable and Thorn are both strong characters, they are both fighters and they both like to be in control so it isn't easy for either of them to hand the reins to someone else but in spite of that they learn to trust in each other so they can build something special together.

I said in my review of Kissed by a Dark Prince that I wanted to see more of Loren's right hand elf Bleu and I was granted my wish in this one. He is determined to fight Thorn for Sable's affections and he takes great pleasure in pushing things which drives Thorn crazy. I have to admit that Bleu's attitude had started to annoy me a little here though. I would have respected him more if I'd thought he was crazy in love with Sable but I never felt they were anything more than friends, in fact it was seemed seemed more like Bleu thought she was a challenge than that he wanted to be with her forever. Luckily once Sable has made it perfectly clear she isn't interested in him he backs off a bit and was more like is usual self which made me like him again. I do really hope that we'll get to see his story at some point in the series but I have a feeling it won't be any time soon. It hasn't been announced yet who will be the next couple in the series but I have picked up on at least 2 couples who I think might get their own books and I'm looking forward to seeing if I'm right or not.

Alongside the fabulous romance this story also contains a lot of action and some great battle scenes. While the first book focuses on the elves this one is all about the demons but it also introduces us to other new species who I think we'll be seeing a lot more of in the future (I REALLY want to see more of the dragons!!). We get to catch up with characters from the previous book (there are some lovely scenes with Loren and Olivia along with a reappearance of a wounded warrior who I'm already crazy about!) and if you've read Felicity Heaton's Vampire Erotic Theatre series you'll see some cameos from your favourite old characters too. I can't wait to see where this series goes next and I'm looking forward to seeing if any of my couple predictions come true.
HASH(0x90bb42b8) von 5 Sternen My first Heaton read! 8. Februar 2015

This was my first Felicity Heaton novel, and I was not disappointed! As a huge fan of paranormal romance, the synopsis caught my attention on Amazon and I had to give it a try! I'm usually a stickler about reading a series in order, but I just got so excited to read this one that I started with book 2!

Can I say it's refreshing to have a hero and heroine that are both BAMF's and can hold their own? I loved that Sable was a warrior, and demanded respect even though she was a human and female. And that Thorne loved her all the more for it too! Was actually PROUD of her! YEAH!

I love the world that Heaton has paved for us in this book. The 'hell' plane/dimension is a great concept, and being broken down in to territories and ruled by Kings. Factor in that elves live in the same plane - it's really quite interesting!

This book also gives you a great glimpse in to ALL of the species that we'll get to see in this series! Witches, dragons, vampires, angels, demons, shifters - and how they don't always like each other and get along. The whole story of this book focuses on King Thorne is trying to rally his allies to help defend his territory from another King. And him trying to keep everyone from killing each other first, haha!

All in all, I LOVED this book! The two hiccups I had with it were Thorne and Sable tend to stare in to each others eyes...a lot. Sometimes it happened multiple times in one page. "She gazed in his eyes..." "She stared into her depths...", etc. Not that it was necessary a bad thing, but it felt repetitive at times, you know?

The second was my own fault - while this book can totally be a stand alone, you understand (and get) a lot more if you read the series in order. And I jumped the gun and read book 2 first. And after finishing this one and going back and starting the series over, a lot more made since! So learn from my mistake and start book 1 first! Haha <3

HASH(0x90bb8798) von 5 Sternen Epic demon battles, surprise allies, and, fun cameos! 21. Februar 2014

The romance in CLAIMED BY A DEMON KING felt a bit like a caveman trying to woe a modern day woman, and as odd as that may sound, it actually works well when paired with vampires, werewolves, and elves. Thorne is hella sexy with his retractable horns, impressive wingspan and sharp claws, and Sable brings a whole new meaning to the expression “good things come in little packages.” I enjoyed the back-and-worth between this unlikely couple, learning more about Felicity Heaton’s demon realm, and that the last three-quarters of this book is one big supernatural free-for-all. Yes, this story has a little something for everyone.

One of my favourite things about starting any new series is the world-building; in KISSED BY A DARK PRINCE we learned about the elves that make up Heaton’s ETERNAL MATES universe, and book 2 is all about Hell a.k.a. the demon realm. I liked how everything in Thorne’s kingdom felt larger than life; from his castle, to his army, to the man himself. I was surprised to learn that there are no demon females and that their fated ones are usually mortal. It was an interesting way to make a three thousand year old virgin believable and helped add a vulnerable side to these seemingly invincible preternaturals. I was also super fascinated by the king’s horns, they are in constant flux, and I couldn’t help but think dirty thoughts every time the author referenced them.

It’s not very often that I fall instantly in love with a fictional character, and a secondary one at that, but there’s just something about Bleu—he’s arrogant, unapologetic, and manipulative. Given the title of this book, I knew that Thorne and Sable were going to end up together, but it was fun watching the elf compete for the heroine’s affections. Even more characters get added to the mix in this novel, including Grave and Night which have to be some of the most ironic vampire names ever but made for a few interesting jokes. Snow from Heaton’s VAMPIRE EROTIC THEATRE series also makes a cameo appearance; I haven’t tackled these novels yet but after meeting this savage animal, I’ll definitely be rectifying that sooner rather than later.

I like how both of the main characters were hardcore alphas, and that neither of them wanted to give an inch, even for love. In this world, a couple knows they are eternal mates when they start having naughty dreams about each other so even though the sex was a long time in coming, there’s still plenty of sultry dream scenes to keep Paranormal Romance readers satiated. Thorne quickly endeared himself to me with his willingness to do things Sable’s way which for a king, seems like a pretty impressive feat in itself. The huntress went through an equally life-changing transformation from demon slayer to future queen of her enemies, and a few shocking truths from her past helped to complicate things even further along the way.

Epic demon battles, surprise allies, and, fun cameos, made this book an all around fab read. CLAIMED BY A DEMON KING will leave you hoping that there is a Hell, and that Thorne has a brother!

I read this book in a day! Having read Kissed by a Dark Prince, the first book in this series, I could not wait for the release of Claimed by A Demon King. I strongly recommend reading Kissed by a Dark Prince first, as the seeds are sown at the end of this book for a romance between King Thorne of the Third Realm of Hell and Sable, a hunter from Archangel, a demon hunting organization. Also many of the characters from book 1 are featured including Prince Loren and his eternal mate Olivia who is Sable's best friend and of course Bleu, Loren's second in command. i just love the names Ms. Heaton comes up with!

In this book the Third Realm is under attack from the Fifth Realm and its power hungry king and they are losing the battle. King Thorne has been at war with these people for almost three thousand years on and off, and they are relentless. He brings in reinforcements including help from Prince Loren and the elves as well as the mortal realm, a team of fifty hunters lead by Sable. The vampires and warewolves make an appearance too. Some characters are featured from her Vampire Erotic Theatre series (I have not read these so cannot say much more on that).

The books keeps a good pace with plenty of action and adventure plus a surprise or two along the way. Both Thorne and Bleu are competing for Sable's affections which leads to tension, that as a reader I love. The chemistry between Thorne and Sable is intense as it builds throughout the story leading to a hot inferno at the end. I'll say no more as I would spoil it for you. I loved both books in this series but I have to say Claimed by a Demon King is by far my favorite. I shall be buying Tempted by a Rogue Prince when it releases in July :)

Sable is a fierce huntress of the Archangel organization, a group of doctors, scientists and demon hunters. Nearly a month ago, when assisting her friend Olivia, Sable caught the attention of a hot and sexy demon king and has since have so very naughty dreams about him. The demon kind, Thorne, requested the assistance of the elves, vampires, werewolves and Archangel (though Archangel pretty much just showed up and not really asked for their help) and Sable has been put in charge of leading the team into this war. Sable has always dream of being a commander and is she proves herself on this mission she will succeed. If only she can avoid a certain demon king who also may just be here eternal mate…

Thorne is the demon king of the third realm and has been at war nearly his entire reign. He is looking to end this war and asks the help of some questionable allies. One of them is Archangel and with them brings Sable, his destined mate. Thorne has waited centuries for his mate and cannot wait to claim her in the ways of his people. However, Sable is no dependent women and Thorne knows he will have to go about their bond a different way in order to fully gain her trust and love.

It is a battle of wills between these two and at times it can be quite comical at all the ridiculous things Sable gets herself into that you cannot help but laugh. The only thing that honestly really bothered me is how self centered Sable was. This is my second time reading this series and I will say I am pretty sure I enjoyed it more the first time. After rereading it I couldn’t help but notice certain qualities about Sable that really irked me and by the end of the book I really wanted Thorne to have a female that would be better suited for him. A more lovable and affectionate female that Sable is clearly not. On the bright side though, Sable is a badass heroine who I honestly would have loved much more if she was fitted with a different hero.

Even writing this review I am getting mixed feeling about Sable again. I really did like her I just think she was way to against Thorne and he was just so perfect! Understandably she was a hard one to secure and court because of her position as a commanding officer, but sometimes I just felt she was a bit harsh to Thorne who was only trying to be compassionate. Again I know she is trying to look good in front of her team, but honestly she has already made a fool of herself a handful of times who cares what they think anymore! So do I like Sable? Yes. Do I want to strangle her sometimes for not just getting naughty with Thorne and accepting her destiny? HELL yes.

Then there was Thorne…Ahh I just loved Thorne. He was possessive, commanding, super sexy and extremely lovable. He waited all his years for his fated female (literally because this 2500 year old bad boy was still a virgin!) and when he finally found her, he had the courage to put his realm first ands own affairs second. Naturally, this relented as his mate came to help with his war making things much easier. A really adorable part of me can’t help but think of how cute Thorne was the first time things between him and Sable really got heated. He was all proud and conquering male that in reality his inexperienced made him shy away at first and it was so cute! Of course he is a big bad sexy demon king and would never be anything than a fantastic lay, but watching him shy away was too adorable to ignore.

To say Thorne is a badass is an understatement considering he is a demon and his sword is the most awesome thing ever! (No no no get your heads out of the gutters). His actual sword comes from the ground and is just massive and picturing him with it and just completely swoon worthy. Not to mention his wings, horns and did I mention he is a king? Though I’m still on the fence between our heroine and hero’s affections, I can say that they make the perfect badass couple and it would be a deadly combination to come up against those two.

I can see how the author wanted Sable and Thorne to be together considering they are both dominating in their ways; however, where Sable is very sensitive and shy about expressing her feelings, Thorne is most definitely not. It just wasn’t the “perfect” match for me and I just would have preferred is Sable was a little more affectionate towards our smoking demon king and showed him the love he deserved. Then again, she did greatly improve in the end when she was the one who FINALLY approached our beloved king and wanted to be claimed. Naturally I couldn’t stop smiling for Thorne finally got what he always wanted!

My personal favorite part of this book had to be the competition between Bleu and Thorne for Sables’ affection. Though everyone knew Sable was Thornes’ destined mate, Bleu still felt determined to show off because he clearly wanted in her pants. That being said, watching the two battle each other and try to outdo each other was extremely enjoyable and I couldn’t help but laugh at Thorne when he gave his little “puppy dog” face to Sable essentially asking if he did a good job! Ahh..I want me one of these…

All things considered I still enjoyed this book because not only do we have awesome demons, but the elves are back too! And I just love these elves…
