Oh this was a marvellous book. The story is set in Jerusalem mostly, at a time right after Jesus Christ was crucified until Whitsun, and tells the story of a centurion, Alban, in the service of Pontius Pilate, and Leah, a Roman servant with Judaean roots, who serves Pilate's wife.
Both are tasked by their masters to find out what happened with Christ's body and whether the new movement, i.e. his followers, pose a risk to the Roman reign in Judaea.
Brilliantly written, very likeable characters, what I thought was a well researched history of life and politics during that time, and a storyline that lets the reader follow the two main characters step by step on their way to find out what had happened.
The two authors have done a brilliant job, and I hope I am right to have read hints that this is just the start of a series!!! I would love to know more about Alban and Leah, about Linux and Abigail and little Jacob and and and .....
I will definitely look into the books those two authors wrote independently, but their joint work is brilliant!
