Das Buch hatte ich von einem youtube-Athleten empfohlen bekommen, der selber sehr viele Infos zum Thema Fettabbau und Muskelaufbau gibt. Er empfahl es als die beste und genaueste Zusammenfassung zum Thema Abnehmen. Entsprechend hoch war die erwartungshaltung.

Gesamteindruck:
Das Thema Abnehmen wird mit dem Buch versachlicht und auf biochemische und biothermische Faktoren runter gebrochen. Wie und warum genügend Schlaf, ausreichende Trinkzufuhr, etc ... sich auf den Abnehmerfolg auswirkt, wird gut und vor allem sachlich erläutert. Es ist weniger geeignet für Leute, die einer speziellen Abnehmtechnik (Trennkost, Heilfasten, etc...) anhängen, und Krafttraining per se ablehnen.
Wie der Titel schon sagt geht es um "body forming", auch warum das für den Autor so wichtig ist, wird erläutert.

Ich empfehle dieses Buch für alle, die ernsthaft abnehmen und fit werden möchten. Für die Umsetzung muß man anfangs etwas Zeit z.B. in die Erstellung eines Ernährungs-und Trainingsplans investieren, wird danach aber durch ein 100% auf die eigene Person abgestimmtes Konzept belohnt, welches die besten Erfolgsaussichten hat. Denn darum geht's ja.

Mir hat das Buch sehr geholfen.

Tja, viele versprechen einem ja, Annehmen, gaaanz easy mit dieser Methode oder jenem Produkt. Tom Venuto spricht aus, was keiner gerne hören will => No Pain, No Gain. PLUS Man ist selbst für sich verantwortlich!

Was mir besonders gut gefallen hat die Priorität der 4 Phasen:
1. Zielsetzung
2. Ernährung
3. Krafttraining
4. Ausdauertraining

Vor allem der Aspekt 1. Zielsetzung und wie man das macht, wird in anderer, ähnlich gelagerter Literatur nur gestreift. Ich persönlich denke, genau dieser Punkt ist der wichtigste.

After reading this I can see why many people refer to it as 'the bible' of fat loss. Indeed, the book is thorough in every department and answered many questions I'd never got round to figuring out for myself. There are however one or two things I'd like to pick at, if I may, which I'll get to in a bit.

Firstly, the book is well structured. It's split into four sections; mindset, nutrition, cardio and weight training.

Mr Venuto is correct to point out that for anybody to make a body transformation, individuals must first have an important emotional reason to want to do so. By retaining an emotional need, you're more likely to stick with anything, not just a body transformation program.

It is the nutrition section that is by far the bulk of this book and goes into such incredible detail as to leave no questions unanswered. I'd often tried the 'protein dripping' approach, eating small amounts of protein at very regular intervals. The book has change my mindset on this slightly in that I may have been overkilling it somewhat. I'd also been making the cardinal error of, for many years, training on only oats, instead of oats and protein - No more. If anything, this section is worth the price of the book alone.

The cardio and weight sections are also very thorough, although admittedly, for me, I didn't learn a great deal of new stuff here other than a fresh approach and training method which I'll put into practice eventually.

One of my major problems with the training regime was that for leg days, it only leaves three days for recovery before the next leg day. I've always required a minimum of four but hopefully, with my new nutrition plan, this will be mitigated somewhat and I understand that this won't be a problem for everybody.

My biggest problem with the book, and it's quite a big one is as follows: The author states that it's not really possible to burn fat while gaining muscle at the same time. While yes, this is the truth, at least on some levels, it needn't be. It's true that fat burning and muscle building require your body to be in two opposing states, either a calorie deficit or a calorie surplus respectively. And while yes, this approach does work, there is indeed a way you can have both. At no point in the book does the author mention 'positive nitrogen balance.' Where you can be in a calorie deficit yet still build muscle because you're in a positive nitrogen balance.

I believe that HIIT 'high intensity interval training' can also aid you in this and yes the book does go into some detail about HIIT. However, I believe this could have been pushed more, to help the muscle building and speed up the fat loss in an even shorter period of time. HIIT is an essential element to fat burning and muscle building and can seriously speed up the process and I think the author could have pushed this more rather than relying on long 45+ minute cardio session when a more intense and shorter HIIT workout would do the job far better and faster, with added resistance training of course.

In conclusion; this book IS the bible of fat loss, but should be read in conjunction with one of the existing HIIT books to give you an even greater understanding and motivation at transforming your body quickly and healthily. My recommendation isHIIT - High Intensity Interval Training Explained by James Driver which is a highly entertaining and enlightening 'bible' as well.

I've bought both the physical as well as the kindle version.

I first read the ebook version of "Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle" in 2006. I've also got Tom's other 'physical' book, "Body Fat Solution'. I'm now excited to read a totally revised and updated version of the ebook Tom wrote 10 years ago. The core principles remain, but everything has been refined, updated, re-jigged and made even more accessable than ever to the average man or woman who wants to get in shape.

One of the things I love the most is that Tom Venuto takes both an, (a) scientific, and (b) a real-world experience approach. This is incredibly important. A lack of appreciation for, and understanding of, the scientific evidence leads to the plethora of whacky diet books that fill the shelves, and that desperate dieters buy.
However, there is also an 'paralysis by analysis' that can occur when someone starts reading the scientific research themselves (or starts following one of the 'evidence-based' weight loss guys). The solution? Take on board the science, but also look at what has worked in real life, human experience. And, that's exactly what Tom (as both an educated fitness expert and a real world body builder) does. What is interesting is that, over time, many of the academic studies have given good proof to various age-old body builder practices. You don't have to wait for everything to be proved to get started!

Another thing I love; the old phenomenon of it being so rare to find someone who has the combination of expert knowledge, the experience of a real-world practitioner, AND has the ability to teach (and not just teach, but coach) is not true here. Tom has the lot, with an engaging style to boot. Being a trainer has also kept Tom from the "curse of knowledge" that is sometimes true of experts (where they forget what it is like to be brand new, and therefore can no longer relate).

Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle has everything you need to know to finally start losing weight (oops, I mean 'fat') effectively & permanently. That's not an empty statement. I take great encouragement from knowing that thousands of people have already used this plan to achieve great success.

One of the key things to also note, is that this is NOT JUST A BOOK FOR BODYBUILDERS or even those who only have a "physique first" goal. Tom has written this book for everyone. That's the whole point. He takes the 'secrets' of the bodybuilding world (because, as mentioned, they work!) and makes them applicable to a real world, modern day, average person. Any 'advanced techniques' are kept to the back of the book.

Tom doesn't neglect the mental side of things. He addresses goals and mind frame in some of the most important chapters of the book.

There is enough 'education' in this book to keep a reader who likes to know the ins and outs (like me), happy. But it is also fast paced enough, and a very comfortable read for anyone to dive into. In fact, within the first couple of chapters, Tom gives you the exact chapters to skip to in order to get started right away (literally, "with your very next meal!") - which you could certainly do, and then come back and read through the rest of the book at your leisure, whilst implementing the plan!

I am so happy to see Tom's magnum opus of fat loss finally in print!

Whether it's true of other diet books or not, it certainly is true of this "lifestyle" book: if you read, learn and then apply what you learn (even imperfectly) from this book, you WILL get great results. You basically cannot, not get results (if that makes sense!)
I'm using my reading of this brand new edition to prep me up for my best year ever, physically speaking, in 2014!

I've read many a diet book since reading the ebook version of Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle in 2006, and so I feel qualified to honestly say; this really is the one that can be the last 'diet book' you'll ever need to buy!

Thousands of others have used Tom's plan to succeed. You can too.

Tom Venutos latest book contains the most up to date and effective nutrition, strength training, and cardio strategies available to obtaining a lean, muscular physique. Structured in an easy to understand manner, anyone can develop a plan to meet their exact needs and make adjustments along the way. These are THE techniques that the leanest and most muscular athletes in the world, bodybuilders, use to get into contest shape. But, these same protocols can be used by anyone to achieve their all time best physique. I give this book my whole hearted recommendation and will use it myself as my go to manual for myself and my personal training clients....
Even if you own the original, this book is updated reflecting the latest in research and real world application and I encourage you to update your library and your knowledge.

The only fault I can give this book is that there's soooo much information in it I had to reread a few chapters! Having said this I am definitely very impressed! One week into the diet and I am finding i am having a strange reaction- I'm not one bit hungry!! I am enjoyin the no silly fads or elimination of carbs etc. My cardio and running have actually improved. Better times and more energy! No toning just yet but one week in its too early to expect it. I'm female looking to lose the spare tyre/last 10lbs and tone up! I would definitely recommend this book to all those that have tried and failed all those other silly diets.

Quality information that's easy to read and understand. No gimmicks, no shortcuts, no funky diets or cleanses, just good, honest, straightforward explanations of what to do and how to do it if you want to burn fat and add muscle. Speaking from experience, I followed this an burned off 38# of fat and added 10# of lean mass in 14 weeks following the principles in this book. Information on eating and exercise - what, when, how and why - to burn fat and build muscle is all here in easy to read chapters.
