Sorry for the author but this book was a complete waste of my time.
The text is badly written which makes it very hard to understand and enjoy. It really makes you wonder why the publisher did not hire a ghost-writer to re-author the book before publishing.
Futher the text is badly structured. F.i. when the Install-tool is covered the author mentions the 10 sections it contains but then completely ignores 8 of them, without any mention about them. Or the section 'Site administration' deals with both backups and workflow. What do these two items have in common?
And as a last remark I found the content of the book very badly chosen. Some important subjects fail the required detail or are completely ignored were as complex and less important subjects (extensions, backups) should have been left out, considering the target audience of the book. Why did the book not cover a step-by-step tutorial on how to build a site using one of the out-of-the-box templates?
The only thing that is not wasted on this book was the money paid (a hefty 35 euros for 190 pages, half of it containing oversized images or whitespace!) because some of it will go to the typo3 community.

The (free) tutorials on typo.org are a much better introduction to creating web sites with typo.
Very disappointed, not likely to buy again from this publisher.
But I say this clear, if you are a beginner in Programming, have even no idea what is HTML, then do not waste your money, because you have problems to understand this book.
