HASH(0x9dc7c804) von 5 Sternen Urgently sensual, with a very good mystery 2. Mai 2011
Von B. D. Whitney - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Ex Chicago police detective Logan Jeffries lives by a set of personal laws that help him keep control of his life. They have kept him safely in the closet, if emotionally distant, for years. Now head of the new personal investigations branch of Quinn Security, Logan finds himself paired with the one Quinn employee that he had hoped to avoid - Nate Jordan. Nate is the kindest, sweetest man Logan has ever known, and Logan has fought an attraction to him for years.

Logan's first case involves locating the missing daughter of wealthy clients. The girl, reputed to be a die-hard party princess, has a history of disappearing for days on end, but this time feels different. Their investigations point to more sinister conclusions.

As the two men wade through the secrets and lies and family dramas of this increasingly dangerous case, Logan finds his unbreakable laws challenged on a daily basis. Nate is addictive, but Logan knows that if the younger man becomes essential to him, then all of his walls - and his laws - will come tumbling down.

Ever waited for a book with such anticipation that you didn't know what to do with yourself when it finally came out? That was me when I finally held Cameron Dane's "Breaking Logan's Laws" in my hot little paws. I've enjoyed the Quinn Security series and have been waiting for Nate's story for a couple of years, so buying the book felt a little like Christmas to me. I found myself, prize in hand, almost reluctant to read it. "Anticipation is the purest form of pleasure," they say (whoever they are), and I wondered if the book would live up to my expectations.

It most definitely does. In "Breaking Logan's Laws," Cameron Dane delivers conflicted love, intense sensuality, and an interesting and well-paced mystery to boot. This is the fourth book of the Quinn Security series, and while it might not be absolutely necessary to read the previous novels to understand Nate and Logan's story, characters and events from those earlier titles do come in to play here. I would recommend reading the books in order to maximize your enjoyment.

Ms. Dane's two heroes in this novel are keepers, and while neither is perhaps the man you'd meet on the street, I wouldn't change a thing about either of them. Nate is soft and sweet but has an inner core of iron. Logan is an alpha's alpha with a visceral, almost violent sexuality that will leave most readers drooling. But he is also surprisingly vulnerable, and this is what makes Nate his perfect match. Each man brings the other out of his shell, and it is only together that they feel complete.

Let's talk a little more about the love between our heroes. These two connect on such an elemental level that the sensuality truly took my breath away. The story combines agonizing sweetness with urgent, consuming sexuality, and the results are stunning. Words just about fail me when it comes to summing up the intensity of the love scenes between Nate and Logan, so I have decided to use a math equation instead: basic + exquisite = hotter than hell.

"Breaking Logan's Laws" kept me involved on two different levels, because all that blistering mind-numbing sex is accompanied by a very good story. The mystery in "Breaking Logan's Laws" is not an afterthought but would stand on its own without the romance. Logan and Nate's investigation is filled with twists and turns, false leads, lies and drama. I found this aspect of the novel to be completely intriguing, with tension that builds to a climax that is as fulfilling as it is surprising.

I appreciate the fact that Ms. Dane introduces new characters in each story, leaving tidbits dangling at the end (not those dangling bits!) to tease and lure the reader. That's what got me so geared up to read this title in the first place. And why I'll be waiting once again, as patiently as my demanding self possibly can, for the next book in this series. Do I hear those keys clicking along, Ms. Dane? Please tell me that I do!

HASH(0x9ccfdbdc) von 5 Sternen Oh no, another interruption! 1. März 2012
Von Anita Somers - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
I'm going to be blunt-- I like Cameron Dane for the smoking hot sex scenes, not the plot. Much like Emma Holly, I don't CARE about the story or the characters b/c that's not where the author's skill lies-- they write dang good smut and that's what I want. The dialogue is awful, her word choice is suspect, her mystery is not particularly mysterious but boy is the sex sexy.

This didn't deliver. The two leads take FOREVER to get it on. And the interruptions are so heavy handed as to be insulting. They kiss, a phone rings. They kiss, someone shows up. They kiss, gee now what...um, maybe someone should come in again! It's an amateur way to keep characters apart for 25% of the book. It was really irritating.

If you have not read Cameron Dane read Grey's Awakening. It's a 6 star book. This one I fear I won't finish.

HASH(0x9dc800d8) von 5 Sternen Once again, Cameron Dane delivers! 29. Juni 2011
Von Robert Carnevali - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
Cameron Dane is one of my favorite authors, and this book does not disappoint. I easily rate it five stars because of its great blend of unique characters, an interesting plot, heartfelt emotions, good suspense, and steamy romance.

We met Logan Jeffries briefly in Quinn Security: Saying I Do. He appeared to have some strong feelings for Kasey's younger brother, Nate Jordan, and in this tale, those emotions get to play out. Logan is in his mid-30'sd and was a former detective. After a gunshot gravely and permanently wounded his leg, he retired and is now hired as head of Quinn Security Investigations, an investigative arm of Quinn Security. His first assignment is to find the missing daughter of two of Quinn's larger clients. Nate has worked at Quinn Security for a few years now, and because the client knows him well, he's assigned to work under Logan for this case. This severely tests the willpower of both men. Logan has five self-made laws that he follows, but he finds that he's incapable of following them in Nate's presence. He throws up walls between himself and Nate because not only is he not out of the closet, but he is still getting over his last lover leaving him for someone else.

Nate has always had a huge crush on Logan, but since he believes Logan to be straight, he does his best to suppress those feelings. The last time Nate expressed love for someone, that person not only proved to be homophobically straight, but also beat the living daylights out of Nate. Now, Nate guards his emotions around Logan because he fears that it could happen again if he were to express his emotions. Naturally, as in any good romance, the two find it impossible to fully hide their feelings from each other, and after a long simmering buildup, both men cave and test the waters of a relationship.

The romance builds gradually, and the characters are allowed to grow and become three-dimensional before they engage in each other. As with other Cameron Dane novels, the characters are wonderfully nuanced, unique, and realistic. The backdrop of a missing socialite keeps the plot moving at a brisk pace and acts as a good means for introducing more tension into the romance. Ms. Dane is quite good at writing intricate plots and does not shy away from suspense, drama, and good old-fashioned thrills, and we get to sample all of that here. And as with all of Ms. Dane's novels, it's all woven together in a seemingly effortless manner that pulls you in and keeps your attention riveted.

All in all, it's a wonderfully entertaining tale that delivers.

I loved this book. Cameron Dane did a fantastic job building the characters and weaving the plot. It's a long read but worth every page. I wanted more of Logan and Nate -- not because the book needed more, but because I enjoyed them that much.

HASH(0x9ccfdc3c) von 5 Sternen I'm amazed by the positive reviews of this book 10. März 2016
Von Rob K. Montero - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

Wow...I'm amazed by the positive reviews of this book. It just really didn't work for me. First, the positives. I really liked the character Nate. He had a wonderful combination of innocence, sincerity, and strength. Also, he was definitely good for Logan, in essence saving Logan from himself. I liked the back story of the missing woman. That to me was the saving grace of the book. The writing wasn't bad either. Now for the negatives. I can't believe I'm saying this, but there was were way too many sex scenes, and they were WAY too long. (pages and pages) I started skipping them after a while. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good sex scene as much as anyone (maybe more), but it just got to be too much. And I really disliked Logan. What an uptight jerk. For such a tough guy, he was a fearful emotional coward. Love is giving yourself completely to someone...no holding back, especially emotionally. Love means putting your emotions, body and soul on the line. If you can't give yourself completely, what's the point? Young Nate got that instinctively, while older Logan was the immature, fearful one. Anyway, bottom line, as much as I hate writing a negative review, in this case I must. Hopefully I will enjoy my next Cameron Dane book more than I did this effort.
