Komplette Reihe

Today's the day, Rowen and Mick finally have their date. At least that’s Mick's plan, but plans are meant to be broken.

What could possibly go wrong when Rowen and Mick get together to enjoy that dinner Mick's been pushing—shoving, threatening, begging—for? Well, Mick could try to make small talk—that’s never good.

Miscommunication between the two leads to a very different outcome than expected. But that’s nothing compared to what happens once danger blows in from the west. The winds of change hit with all the gentleness of a cyclone. A disastrous dinner date, midnight marauders, enigmas exposed.

When the winds die down, who will be left standing?

Blown Hard is the third installment in the Whispering Winds portion of the Pulp Friction 2014 serial. This is only part of the whole story and should be read with the understanding that you need to have read what came before and the rest is still to come.

OMG! What? This is not what was supposed to happen! Mick and Rowen were supposed to go on a date and start their happily ever after. This was supposed to be the installment where things starting moving towards the positive for these two men! Ms. Fellows you were not supposed to go the direction you did! I wanted happy, not more mystery. Dang you for sucking me in and making me want more right now!!!

Blown Hard is another amazing addition to the Whispering Winds serial. Ms. Fellows has yet again pulled out all the stops and delivered a mystery that has sucked me and and left me eager for more. Ms. Fellows is very slowly introducing the history of Mick and Rowen while even more slowly developing the relationship between these two men. Each has issues of his own from the past that are intriguing in their own right while also showing that these men are perfect for each other.

Havan Fellows has a very unique ability to entice the reader with her plot elements while expertly developing her characters and their relationship at the same time. Never once did the plot movement slow or hinder the budding relationship between these two men, it only enhanced it. This story was short, but there was so much packed into the tale that I cannot help but say that this is my favorite Pulp Friction 2014 installment to date. Ms. Fellows, your talent continues to amaze me.

Gotta tell you, this was the book I was waiting for…..Havan Fellows had written the first two books Blown Away Book 1 and Blown Kisses Book 2 of her Whispering Winds storyline for Pulp Friction 2014, shrouding the two main characters in mystery, innuendo and more mystery….

Mick Rutger was here in Flagstaff ‘visiting “ his best friend College Professor Finn Lorensson. Mick ‘happened’ to notice recluse Rowen Smithe who lived at the same campgrounds and was just enchanted by the tall, handsome secretive young man. After the second book Blown Kisses, I was kind of frustrated by what we didn’t know about these two. I had hoped Blown Hard book #3 would add the pieces to the puzzle….and Havan Fellows you hit me right between the eyes with a 2 by 4….You couldn’t have written this third story any better, it was all I could have wished for.

We know Mick talks too much and says the wrong things to his embarrassment, and we know how secretive and alone Rowen is. A word can light his fire, and his fear of someone spying, or looking or searching are buzz words to his fear. They are having their first ‘date’ finally. We thought we only had to worry about Rowen not eating or throwing up on Mick’s shoes???? Imagine the worst and one of the hottest scenes eva !

So you have it my two week tirade of the bestest series to follow and be addicted to. I love it and hope you are reading along and enjoying the ride I am taking…..If not start with Laura Harner, then Lee Brazil, next Havan Fellows and Last but not Least Tom Webb for The Pulp Friction 2014 Collection.

The authors tell you: Four authors. Four Series. Twenty books. One fiery finale. The strongest bonds are forged by fire, cooled in air, smoothed by water, grounded in earth. Although each series can stand alone, we believe reading the books in the order they are released will increase your enjoyment.

Havan, Havan, Havan. *shaking my head* What have you done? I've been waiting, oh so patiently, thinking any minute now she's going to let Rowen and Mick consummate this intense electricity between them. And then? You do this to me. 'Blown Hard' is Havan Fellow's third installment in this year’s ‘Pulp Friction’ consisting of four authors, five books each, and one combined finale. And, frankly, Havan, you absolutely blew me away and had me gnawing at my lip through the entire read.

Now, I finally get some MUCH NEEDED (hint, hint) background on Mick and why he's at Mountain Shadows and what exactly is lurking in his past. And, in case you were wondering, as most of you should be, because we've all been thinking that Rowen is the one with secrets, Mick has plenty of his own and the author does some nice revelations. This, in no way, shape or form, redeems her from the mind screw she's giving me in the rest of the story, but I can be happy about something. Can't I?

You had to leave me on one of the most intense cliffhangers yet, huh? Oh, Havan, my friend…I honestly don't know how long I can hold back the tide of flak that'll be coming your way over these new developments. Luckily for you, I loved it, I still love Rowen and Mick, and, even better? I'm still anxiously awaiting new books. So, all is not lost. But, I'd better get some good answers in the next go around. You know what I mean?

I don't think there two characters that fascinate and frustrate me as much as Mick and Rowan. I am dying to know what is behind Rowan's quirkiness. In this installment, the reader is finally given some of Mick's background.

At long last Mick has gotten Rowan to accept a dinner invitation. Sadly, Mick opens his mouth, sticks his foot in it and their dinner date goes south from there. The sex scene is amazing, just loved it.

As I have said over and over, if you are not reading Pulp Friction, you are a sad puppy and cheating yourself of some of the best m/m out there to read. I give this a tree top full of stars. I am going to read it again, it was over way too fast.

Rowen Smithe and Mick Rutger are men that come with their own special brand of complications and impressive set of problems attached to each of them. Rowen Smithe wears his some complexities and special issues like clothing. But not all. Rowen's other problems, like the voice in his head, are more deeply buried and waiting to come out.

Mick Rutger's sunny disposition and impetuous manner is hiding a past that he hoped he had buried when Mick came to Mountain Shadows. Rowen Smithe, his neighbor and new love interest, has finally agreed to a dinner cooked by Mick and that is all he has been thinking about. But the dinner and its aftermath have left a wake of new problems for them both.

While Mick is weighing his next move and Rowen is doing his best to hide, an old enemy arrives at the campground. The winds of change are blowing strong. Who will be left standing after the storm has passed?

In Rowen Smithe, Havan Fellows has created a character that continues to surprise me with each new layer of his persona that comes to the surface in the Whispering Winds series. A cruel and dismissive voice in his head? Check. Self appointed guardian of the woods who will use any means at his disposal to keep all safe? Check. An overwhelming need to hide from all but a few? Check. Paranoid, competant, intelligent, and gorgeous. But is he sane? Hmmm. Not sure. He is the gift of a conundrum that keeps on giving. And boy, does he do that in spades here. Do I love this character? Indeed I do.

Havan Fellows has then paired him up with as unlikely a fellow as could be. I often think of Mick Rutger as a human Golden Retriever. Affable, good hearted, loyal, and fun to have around, Mick's impetuous nature can get him into trouble. Handsome, quick to laugh, too quick to act, and an attention span that….squirrel…..that wanders. He is almost impossible to dislike even when you are sighing in dismay over something that he has done or said. And of all things to grab his attention, that would be the dark question mark of Mountain Shadows, Rowen Smithe. It's a fascinating, unlikely, and perilous combination that has made this series a compulsive read for me in every way.

For the last two stories, Fellows has kept these two unlikely mates in a fight and flee sort of pattern. Mostly with Rowen fleeing. Whether it is into his cabin, into the woods or up his tree or all three combined, Mick has had to make the decision to follow when Rowen leads or pursue where Rowen has fled. It's been funny, sad, and totally entertaining. But now a tentative peace has been obtained and Rowen has made the huge commitment to each food someone else has cooked and attend a dinner/date at Mick's cabin that has been especially prepared for him. To understand just how big a decision that is for Rowen, you have to read the preceding stories. That's how Blown Hard starts off and then quickly turns into something totally unexpected and sort of shocking when yet another dimension of Rowen is revealed to Mick and the reader. And neither of us was prepared for it.

Fellow's narrative is concise, taut, and it flows quickly from start to finish, barely pausing for us to gasp at the shocks along the way. This is the darkest of all the stories to date and the most compelling to read.

This is a story of the perceived cracks in people's characters that become exposed for the deep and camouflaged crevices they always were. And it's not just Rowen's flaws and elements of his character that are exposed here but some of Mick's as well. This story is so well titled because Havan Fellows's hard winds blow through the plot, scrapping away superficial notions and assumptions you have made about these people (and ones that they have made about each other) to leave something very fundamental and naked exposed at the end. It will leave you in a state of disbelief and in immediate need for more.

I need more. Much, much more. So will you. This (and the whole Pulp Friction 2014 author series) is a must read. But please, dont' start here. Go running to the first book in the series. Grab it and prepare yourself for a wonderful rollercoaster ride of emotions, romance and explosive secrets! I have listed all the stories, all the authors and their interconnected series for 2014 below. Use it as a check list, don't miss out on any of them.

Definitely one of ScatteredThoughtsandRogueWords Highly Recommended Stories, and Series of the Year!
