I'm a BIG fan of Michael Crichton and John Grisham, as well as Frank Peretti. So when I first read this book's title, I was intrigued. The story moved well, I thought, and the plot line fantastic (imagine the blood of Jesus Christ coarsing through your veins!!), but the research Mr. Myers had to do for the book weighed down the story with all the details he put in. It's the kind of mistake that your English teacher told you in school when a writing assingment was due: too many specifics tend to bog down your story. this was the case with Blood of Heaven. It also seemed to me to have been unresolved at the end. I wasn't sure if Myers wanted his readers to leave with the impression of a seuqel. The main character came off as a wimp before the geneticist, Murkowski, and overall, the book was on the negative side. Otherwise, great plot, though.

It was hard to resist picking this book up and giving it a read. The idea was very catchy. The book went along fine (aside from being a bit short for my tastes) until the end drew near. The ending plot degenerated into something almost exactly mirroring the plot of Terminator 2. I wont draw the specific comparisons so as not to fully ruin it for all of you, but I'm sure any who read the book and have seen the movie will agree.
and also... Too much scientific data? Surely not. It was all intro level genetics. The previous reviewer must have flunked a few bio classes in college.

I found the development of the main character and the incremental changes in his personality facinating. The plot, however, becomes down right silly as we learn that the bad guys want the gene to make their soldiers more bloodthirsty and heartless. The simple question here is, why would ANYONE think such extreme measures were necessary. Did Hitler need genetic engineering to persuade the SS to do his bidding. Did Stalin or Idi Amin? History is a record of man's inhumanity to man, and man's heart has never been known to suffer from a shortage of evil.

Blood of Heaven is the first of a series of three wonderful books with an entirely original treatment of the end days. Myers just may be better than Milton in justifying God's ways to man! Real people with real weaknesses are portrayed realistically in their trials to overcome evil with good. The characterization was as good as the plot, which is a rare find. The overall message was extremely thought-provoking and ultimately uplifting spiritually. I strongly recommend all three books: Blood of Heaven, Threshold, and Fire of Heaven.

If they could make dinosaurs come back from DNA, what would happen if they tried the same thing with Jesus'?
Michael Coleman is a convicted killer on death row who is given what he believes to be DNA from the blood of Christ. His behavior radically affected, he goes back into society. He is transplanted into the Federal Witness Protection Program and unknowingly put to work for the wife of a cop he had killed. He is also stalked by the father of another victim, a man obsessed with seeing Michael die, n

When I first read the cover I was intruiged. With todays emphasis on Science as the savior of man Bill Myers craftily weaves together the world of science and spirit in a way that leaves on scratching there head wondering if it really could happen. Science is on a colision course with the spiritual side of man, cloning is just one of many issues where these two world are set to colide. A masterful work indeed.

Is faith more powerful than science? This book, although fiction, explores that thought through a very real pursuit. I read the book in a day, not because it was light reading, but because it was gripping. The climax isn't what you'd expect... it's even better! Do I recommend it? YOU BET! Hey - I wouldn't even be surprised if they make it into a movie and Mel Gibson plays the lead. :-)

This book was truly amazing! Not only did it help break the controversy between gene-determined behavior, it went deep into the human mind... from the simplest pleasures, to the deepest, darkest secrets! I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a great novel, or anyone who wonders about the concequences if blood from Christ were ever found.

When I read this book, christian fiction was very new to me...I was not expecting it to be very good. What a shock I had when I started reading! I could not put it down, it was read in one shot.
My congradulations to Bill Myers on his first adult fiction that I know of. (the other two published later are great too)

The plot of this book is very intriguing indeed, but when I finished the book, I was a little disappointed. The story could have been much better. I am forced to agree with Frank Peretti-I wished he would have thought of it-he would have taken the same story and turned it into another hold-your-breath masterpiece.
