    Mit Soulside Journey schafften sie ein Monument des Death Metal, das von "Goatlord" leicht in Prog-Dimensionen verschoben wurde. Und damit goodbye, Death Metal-"A Blaze in the Northern Sky" ist ein Black Metal-Blizzard von seltener Wildheit, während "Under A Funeral Moon" eine minimalistische Bösartigkeit ausstrahlt, die es in sich hat. "Transilvanian Hunger" bringt noch ein Plus an Kälte, und "Panzerfaust" ist geballte Aggressivität, die später nur noch von Marduk (mit Mortuus an den Vocals) getoppt wurde. Die nächsten Outputs sind hauptsächlich Black/Thrash-Wildheiten, die schließlich in Metalpunk-Skulpturen münden. Das rauhe "Arctic Thunder", bzw. das doomig/gewöhnungsbedüftige "Old Star"-Release bleiben außen vor, weil zum Zeitpunkt der Erstellung dieses Mediabooks noch nicht erschienen.
    Aber Schluß mit all den Schubladen, was bleibt, ist der Sound, und der ist Underground as Hell-wenn in den späteren Alben die Midtempo-Gitarrenrifs genauso klingen wie zu seligen "In the Shadow of the Horns" (A Blaze of the Northern Sky)-Zeiten, dann weiß man, dass Darkthrone ihre Ausdrucksweise zwar ändern, sich aber nie vor König Kommerz verbiegen-und das hat heutzutage wirklich Seltenheitswert!
    So und nun Kopfhörer auf und "Cult of Goliath", "Rust", "Graveyard Slut", "Paragon Belial", "Kathaarian Life Code", "The Winds They Call the Dungeon Shaker", "Under A Funeral Moon" etc. bei maximaler Lautstärke gehört!
    Nicht zu vergessen die hochwertige Aufmachung des Mediabook mit atmosphärischen Fotos-greift zu, der Preis lohnt sich!
