5.0 von 5 Sternen A very good hip hop cd...... 15. März 2012
Von Gregory Gross - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verifizierter Kauf
DJ Cam is better liked for Mad Blunted Jazz, and Substances, but it's my opinion that his style of music fits hip hop perfectly. You may not care for rap, and there are good reasons for not liking the genre, as the people who are in charge of mainstream music and tastes don't really seem to care what they put out as long as it sells. These MC's are fairly unknown to most people and yet Channel Live, Silver Bullet, Dado, Otis, and a few others demonstrate that all is not yet lost. Though to be realistic this music was made more than 10 years ago and there are still problems in the industry, not all to be blamed on rappers. This music still stands out as one of Cam's and hip hops best efforts, and in my opinion in a world of 50 cents and Ludicriss, this recording is a reminder that all was not lost, not so long ago. There is also turntablism for those of us who remember what hip hop is supposed to be.
2.0 von 5 Sternen Too much rap, not enough Cam 26. Juli 2001
Von Scott Woods - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verifizierter Kauf
For fans of his early work (most notably "Mad Blunted Jazz", now classic), this record may seem like a bit of a sellout on his DJ+trip-hop stylings. However, if you track his work from project to project (compilation appearances included), you could probably see this project coming a mile away. Half of the record features rappers (of varying qualities), which is NOT what you've been coming to Cam for, but hey, a guy's allowed to branch out a little bit, right?
Well, only if it's good stuff. This record has me torn down the middle. On one hand, there's some good instrumental tracks. Not many, but a few. Then, there's a couple of decent beats and soundscapes marred by rapping we can get anywhere, which is grating. I come to Cam for instrumental work mostly, and this album really just came off like an attempt (much like his stylistically schizophrenic Loa Projects) to show the industry that he can do other types of stuff too, and hey, "send me some producing jobs!"
If you're interested in trying Cam out, go with "Mad Blunted Jazz", then buy anything else you MIGHT be interested in used, if at all. If I wanted a rap record, I wouldn't have picked it up at all.
3.0 von 5 Sternen Good Rap Album 24. August 2000
Von Rahul Varshney - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

So Beat Assassinated is definetly NOT Cam's best stuff, see "Mad Blunted Jazz" for that, but this is surely an album u can bob your head to. The rappers are on this album are some of the best I've heard, listen for Channel Live especially. There's even one track where the guy or guys change their voices from hard to soft so smoothly, its just so phat. I would get this album if you like good rap along with Cam's beats in the backgroud. As a rap album, I'd put it at just one notch below Dj Honda's "Honda II". It's more along the lines of Dj Krush's "Milight" or "Meiso" and Dj Vadim's "U.S.S.R.: Life From the Other Side". To go further, there's a track rapped by some French dude which is pretty cool to listen to, and there's a jungle/house (acid house?) track at the end thats pretty phat. Cam rarely does the "club" bit, but the last track is kinda like his way of saying "i could do that too".

2.0 von 5 Sternen Disappointing effort from a hip-hop genius 9. Juli 1999
Von Ein Kunde - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Having already purchased the previous two DJ Cam albums "Substances" and "Underground Vibes" my expectations for this album were high. However when I finally got to hear it,it was largely a dissapointing and frustrating experience,Cam gives us glimpses of his talents on tracks like "I Love Hip-Hop" and the collaboration with Channel Live "Broadcasting Live",but for the rest of the album he loses sight of what it is he does best which is making top class hip-hop.Most of his experimenting on this LP falls short of his usually high standards, his forray into speed-garage being a prime example.Overall I am sorry to say that this album comes over as a stale and lacklustre effort from a man with real talent. If you want to check out the true Cam sound I suggest you check out "Substances" or "Undergerground Vibes" both true Cam classics. 4.0 von 5 Sternen Bringing back that old school hip-hop 2. Dezember 1999
Von vadim's dog - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Granted this album isn't as good as Mad Blunted or Dj Kicks, but I love it nonetheless. It certainly doesn't deserve the dogging other reviewers gave it, unless you despise hip-hop for some sick reason. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because not all the tracks are strong...best joints are by far "I Love Hip-Hop," and "Success." Cam is, unlike some djs, tasteful with his scratches, and knows when they're best used. It has that old hip-party party flavor; put it on when you're out or having some friends over and want to get hyped.
