Komplette Reihe

If there is one thing eighteen-year-old Aurora Sky wants, it's to get off the iceberg she calls home. Being kissed before she graduates wouldn't hurt either.

Then a near-fatal car wreck changes everything. Government agents step in and save Aurora's life in exchange for her services as a vampire hunter. In Alaska. Basically she's a glorified chew toy. All thanks to her rare blood type, which sends a vampire into temporary paralysis right before she has to finish the job . . . by hand.
Now Aurora's only friends are groupies of the undead and the only boy she can think about may very well be a vampire.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Amazed Again! 1. Dezember 2012
Von Tracy Beth - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Kindle Edition
Nikki Jefford has amazed me. Again. In her newest novel, Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter, Jefford turns vampirism into a real disease. The explanation that people with the blood type AB can become vampires by extracting a deadly disease (and surviving it) is pure creative genius. I admire that Jefford gave vampirism a new back story, making it a possible realistic occurrence.

Aurora Sky, the main character of the novel which is told in her point of view, is a simple teenage girl who dies in a car accident. After learning of her rare blood type, the government steps in, replacing a few organs, infecting her with an array of deadly diseases, and then giving her an antidote so she won't turn into a vampire... but instead become their worst enemy.

After the transfusion, Aurora is trained as a vampire hunter which is a lot like being thrown to the wolves. And then, of course, is on the job training with her mentor Dante. All of this happening while Aurora is trying to finish high school, falling in love, and making new friends. Talk about a heavy burden!

But Aurora can definitely handle herself. After the government made her superhuman, her personality shifts into your typical badass. She's not afraid of anything and is learning to stick up for herself (and others). Though, it does tend to get her into trouble. Readers will connect with Aurora based on her new found teenage angst to live her own life, her desire to be a normal girl even if it's impossible now, and her dreams for the future.

However, even though this book seems like a YA novel, it definitely is not. There's cursing, sexual innuendos, and some gory descriptions. Highly recommended for readers who are 18+! Absolutely cannot wait until the second volume is released! Better get writing Jefford... =)

5.0 von 5 Sternen Already can't wait for the next installment 29. November 2012

I love what Nikki Jefford did with witches and couldn't wait to see what she was going to do with the vampire!

And I am happy to say that I was not disappointed. In most vampire hunter stories the hunter relies on their ability to be able to over power vampires, but Aurora has a different set of skills. Her blood is paralytic and instead of beating vampires into submission until she can get a kill shot, she lures them in with the temptation of her blood. And this little twist blew me away and I never saw it coming. The vampires in this story had a little of what you would expect with that little something special that can only come from Nikki Jefford's mind.

I truly loved this story and devoured it in a matter of hours. I felt an instant love for all the characters in this book. Especially for Aurora who I couldn't help but feel sympathy for as her life was turned upside down and she struggled to accept her new role in life. She was sassy, sarcastic and a true fighter. Then there is Fane the ruggedly handsome bad boy, but underneath that rough exterior lied the heart of a gentleman.

I laughed out loud, I yelled at the characters (no they didn't answer back, in case you were wondering), enjoyed the action and all the characters. I already can't wait for the next installment in this series as the ending left me with so many questions that I actually kept looking for another chapter!

An absolute must read! If you want a change on the vampire and vampire hunter then make sure to check out Aurora Sky!

2.0 von 5 Sternen I can see other people enjoying this book, but it wasn't for me 10. Juni 2014

Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter seemed like it was a unique take on a vampire story. Aurora Sky is a senior at a high school in Alaska, and she can't wait to get out of town. But before any of that can happen she is swept away by some government agents. Apparently, her blood is toxic to vampires. The premise had so much promise and I can see a lot of people easily enjoying this series. It is a classic young adult paranormal vampire tale. Sadly, the story didn't capture my attention and the characters fell a bit flat for me.

Initially, I really felt for Aurora. My heart really went out to her. She had a hard shake of it at the beginning, but then the more and more she started opening her mouth , the more she started to annoy me. I liked her sense of humor. She was funny, but she was also petulant and immature. I just couldn't connect with her. But at least I liked her more than Fane. I get the appeal of a bad boy, and even more so as a brooding dark and stormy vampire, but Fane just seemed...mean. Again, I think I might be in the minority of this one. I can see him as a guy that people will love, he just isn't my particular taste for a book boyfriend.

The plot of Aurora Sky was a bigger hit with me than the characters, but most of the time it felt blah to me. I wasn't engaged in the story. I liked it, but there were a couple of times that I had to force myself to keep reading. The start of the book was confusing and I didn't know everything that was going on, but because I wasn't as invested in the book, I found myself just not caring as much. The Vampire Hunter series has potential, and I can see lots of teens loving it, but it wasn't the book for me. I don't think I will be continuing this series, but if you love young adult vampire paranormals, you should still give it a try.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Fantastic read! 29. November 2012

Aurora Sky is the first book in the new Transfusion series by Nikki Jefford, author of the fantastic Spellbound trilogy. Below this review will be a giveaway for some book swag and some books, so be sure to enter that, too! I got this ARC from the author and began reading within moments and couldn't put it down. It is unlike anything I have read, an entirely new twist on the vampire genre. Mystery, intrigue, conspiracy theory, teen angst, horror, and even some humor combine to make this a really great read. The book pulled me in so much that there were times when I realized I just wanted to slap some of the characters on Aurora's behalf! I love a book that draws me in like that!

Aurora opens the story as a fairly typical teen girl, with all the angst and awkwardness that you would expect. But a horrific car accident changed all of that for her, turning her into someone I don't think even she really recognizes. While she was recovering, her mother made choices for her that have lifetime ramifications for Aurora. That theme, that Aurora was essentially being extorted into living a life she wouldn't have chosen for herself, was a big part of the emotional pull for me. While I understand why her mother did the things she did, the fact that Aurora had no choice made me feel all of the frustration that Aurora herself felt. It made her a very real character for me. All of the characters, regardless of their role within the story, were completely three dimensional, whether you liked them or not. And there were definitely several that I truly disliked! Some of the less central characters were so well developed that it allowed the reader to know them, reminding me of people I known in my own life. Of course, most of these were in a negative way!

This is a really great read if you like mystery and intrigue. The vaguley "conspiracy theory" aspect of the government's involvement in saving Aurora adds a different element to the horror of the story. It definitely elicits emotion from the reader, a protective feeling for Aurora. There are lots of twists and turns, horror and action, even some romance and fun. I highly recommend this read! It is also freshly released so go get it now!

This author is just horrible. I'm sorry, but it's true. There was obviously NO RESEARCH done what so ever. The author chose Anchorage AK as where the story takes place, chose actual streets like Jewel Lake (where i was born and raised in a beautiful house) and also used Elmendorf Airforce Base. Then uses a fictional high-school and knows nothing about the weather save that it snows. She wrote about dirt paths in December when snow goes to your chest and a cave in the woods by her house off Jewel Lake. Not only is there NO CAVES ANYWHERE, but she further describes Anchorage as a place with a tiny population. Its one of the biggest, most populated cities in the United States. Its just ridiculous. The story itself is horrible, begging for a lawsuit with the actual name of a respected base being used for evil intentions and projects done to teenagers. Its stupid, i recommend steering clear to readers and for the author to do a some more research. Either go all make believe or all fact when choosing a place, i learned that in elementary school... kindergarten i believe. Oh and one last thing, its not colder in the woods in December, same temperature- FREEZING.
