Agile Business: A Leader’s Guide to Harnessing Complexity is an engaging introduction to Agile Development from a business perspective. It contains practical real-world advice from over 30 coaches, executives, developers and managers who are actively using Agile in their organizations and helping others achieve Agility.

Written in language that can be easily grasped and put to use whether you have previous Agile experience or not, Agile Business is broken down into five simple parts:

“Build the Right Thing,” which covers product management, innovation and product roadmaps.

“Build the Thing Right,” which covers the testing and engineering practices that contribute to organizational Agility.

“People, not Resources,” which focuses on management practices and organizational culture building that motivates individuals to do great work.

“Agile Steering,” which covers dynamic planning and funding models that are compatible with a more Agile way of operating.

“And Transform Your Organization,” which lays out the path for getting from where you are now to where you want to be as an organization.

Whether you’re looking for an introduction to the topic or want to deepen your own practice, Agile Business will help you understand and apply Agile principles to your business and your life.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Agile Business: the "why" for Agile 15. Juli 2013
Von M. Swenson - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
This book does a terrific job of explaining WHY one would bring Agile development techniques into an organization, from a business (rather than technical) perspective.

There are a lot of great books that actually explain the "how", but they are mostly geared toward tech folks. The essays in this book are written by Agile practitioners, presenting the business results of adopting Agile techniques in your organization: how it impacts teams, culture & results. This is the book to read when you're trying to decide whether to use Agile in your organization (or looking for good info to use to convince others). Lots of useful information, real stories, and an easy read. Highly recommended!

2.0 von 5 Sternen Pretty content-free 2. August 2013
Von D. Hersey - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
This is an example of a book that was team-written by multiple people, and really just contains a bunch of pointers to other works, with short (2-3 paragraphs in some cases) summaries of why you should read them. There are few pragmatic examples, very little how-to instruction. In its defense, I will say that the pointers are to very good techniques, and the arrangement of ideas is very systematic. But don't expect any depth or learning here.
4.0 von 5 Sternen Worth the price. 23. August 2013

I have enjoyed the Webinars presented by Rally and after a quick scan shared this book with team members who I thought would benefit from it. Sometimes good advice carries more weight when it is in black and white and published. i have no hesitation in suggesting this as a easy read to anyone interested in Agile.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Perfect timing for me 1. Juli 2013
Von Andy Drish - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
this read was perfectly timed for me... i'm just starting a new software project and understanding the agile concepts are going to help a ton.

This book is full of counter-intuitive advice to building a software product and managing a team.

The section on "people, not resources" is all about building culture and team dynamics. It's short, sweet and brilliant and it discussed things like shame, vulnerability and play. I didn't expect they'd write about that in this book, but i'm really glad they did.

Personally, I have a smaller team and some of the concepts seem more suited for larger, established organizations.

I also loved how focused they are on 'building the right product' and putting the customer first and how agile naturally facilitates that.

Great stuff. Definitely recommend if you're in the software space.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Highly recommend Agile Business 28. Juni 2013
Von Leslie C. - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
Agile Business is a great introduction to the Agile process. The author, Bob Gower, conveniently divided the 60 essays into 5 useful sections - Build the Right Thing, Build the Thing Right, People, Not Resources, Agile Steering, and Transform Your Organization - that made it easy to focus on the areas of Agile that I needed. The essays are clear, jargon free and carry the weight of experience. The author-practitioners write with an infectious passion for the success that can be achieved using the Agile process. I recommend this book very highly.
