5.0 von 5 Sternen A timely tool for best brain function by day, and restful sleep at night---what a game changer! 14. September 2014
Von Dr. Marlisa Hurt - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
Dr. Platt has done it again! An intuitive genius for ferreting out the underlying cause of plaguing symptoms that destroy quality of life and are completely missed by standard RX drug approaches, Dr. Platt offers clear and concise information that is truly transformational!
I immediately began to implement his methods, and had tremendous results in only a few days. I find myself making lists of names who I know would have a massive improvement in quality of life with Dr. Platt's experience in addressing the many facets of adrenaline dominance, which are clearly outlined in this resource.
This offers a welcome promise of hope to SO many suffering!
The variety of case studies would make it difficult to read this and NOT find yourself, your loved ones, and people you work with, in desperate need for the information which leads to clearer more productive peaceful days, and better quality reparative sleep.
As a rehabilitative nutritionist, it is also refreshing to find a medical authority who both understands the hormonal impact that food has on biorhythms, and who doesn't recommend inflammatory vegetable oils.
Way to go, Dr. Platt! Thank you for such a valuable resource in sharing the wealth of your life-changing observations---truly a gift that will keep on giving, and a legacy of better brain function and quality of life for the next generation of over-achievers!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Another Hormone Needing Some Balance 3. Februar 2015
Von Carol Petersen - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
Carol Petersen, RPh, CNP - Women's International Pharmacy

We know what a surge of adrenaline feels like. It is the hormone that gives us the strength for "fight or flight". Our hearts beat harder, stronger, faster. Blood is diverted from less important things like digestion to our muscular tissue. Thought processes seem to happen at lightning speed. There are many stories of superhuman feats performed under extraordinary circumstances with surges of adrenaline.

Dr. Michael E. Platt has written his book "Adrenaline Dominance" because he feels that practitioners and their clients lack understanding of this very important hormone He finds that knowing how adrenaline functions enables him to successfully guide his patients towards wellness.

Adrenaline is produced by an inner part of the adrenal glands. Dr. Platt explains that there are TWO reasons for adrenaline to be released. One reason is in response to stress as described above and the second reason is to ensure that the brain has received enough sugar (glucose). The body uses adrenaline to help create more glucose from protein as well as stimulate the release of glucose stored in the liver. Consequently, as glucose releases, insulin releases. These two hormones are intimately involved with adrenaline.

Dr. Platt organized his book according to "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", the classic Clint Eastwood western, to illustrate that adrenaline has both desirable and undesirable effects. He believes that right brained creative thinkers acquire those qualities from plenty of adrenaline ensuring lots of glucose to the brain. Superb athletes also get their edge from adrenaline. These are "good" mental and physical effects of generous amounts of adrenaline.

It starts to get "bad" when adrenaline output is too generous or our bodies don't have the ability to moderate the high adrenaline. High adrenaline can be tied into depression, anxiety, irritable bowel syndrome, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, headaches, restless leg syndrome, addictions, and bedwetting. It gets "ugly" when syndromes such as fibromyalgia, interstitial cystitis, road rage, autism, post-traumatic stress disorder appear.

Progesterone, which is also produced by our adrenal glands, is the natural modifier of excess adrenaline. Dr. Platt recommends progesterone in men and women, as well as children. Along with progesterone, Dr. Platt guides his patients with their food choices. Dr. Platt recognizes the relationship between glucose and insulin and claims the timing and types of foods ingested can make significant changes in the presentation of excess adrenaline.

It is not difficult to imagine the ramifications of adrenaline being out of balance since Dr. John Lee introduced us to the concept of "estrogen dominance". Many practitioners surprisingly don't recognize the significance of progesterone in moderating both the effects of estrogens and adrenaline.

Thanks to Dr. Platt, we can raise our awareness on an ever enlarging picture about hormone balance. He reveals his evidence and thinking in great detail in his book which is sure to expand every reader's thinking about our bodies.

5.0 von 5 Sternen ... is an important book that covers a topic of great timeliness that gets little or no attention elsewhere 14. August 2014
Von Carolyn Bell - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
This is an important book that covers a topic of great timeliness that gets little or no attention elsewhere. Modern society and modern diet have predisposed us to have chronic high adrenalin and unhealthy insulin activity that can lead to obesity and diabetes. Dr. Platt enumerates the many symptoms and effects of adrenalin dominance and describes in detail the the adrenalin-insulin cycle and how to break it.

When I had a full hysterectomy 15 years ago, I was placed on estrogen therapy but told I did not need progesterone. I believe this has lead to adrenalin issues and weight gain. I have started adding progesterone back to my system via a topical cream and look forward to getting back in balance. I'll write another review when I have the results!

I particularly recommend this book to highly creative people and those that love them. Dr. Platt suggests a compelling link between adrenaline dominance and the addiction problems of so many creative people, particularly musicians. I don't fall in this category but my loved one does and we are both eager to see what adding progesterone will do for him.

5.0 von 5 Sternen I highly recommend this book. 6. Oktober 2014
Von Robert Rose - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
Dr. Platt's book may represent a new paradigm for assessing and treating many acute and chronic conditions related to adrenaline dominance. The book is filled with clinical pearls and information that can be utilized immediately by both clinicians and the average person. His insights into the various forms and treatment of ADHD is innovative and illuminating.
The book is an easy read and he makes complicated ideas easy to understand, including the dietary and supplement protocols. As a clinician myself I am always skeptical of "simple fixes", but I was pleasantly surprised by the profoundly positive response that one of my very anxious clients had using his protocol. I look forward to exploring and utilizing this new knowledge in the future. My only recommendation would be for the next edition to include an index.

5.0 von 5 Sternen ADRENALINE DOMINANCE is now required reading in my research courses. 24. Juni 2015
Von Lynn F. Koiner - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
This book, Adrenaline Dominance, has helped so many people who take my medical classes.
I teach researching the psychological patterns of disease but, over the years, I began including remedies contributed by students, audiences and other sources.
I learned about this book from a magazine at Whole Foods.
I now add this to my courses and lectures and so many people have told me that this has solved so many of their problems.
I will also add that, several years ago, when I was lecturing in Chicago to a group of nurses, they told me about Seriphos – it more easily converts to Serotonin than 5-HTP (I do not find this works after 3 days).
Following your suggestions, taking Seriphos, several of my students are now off anxiety meds!

In the 1970s, doctors began diagnosing Hypoglycemia as a disease of the adrenal cortex. Now, doctors just see it as a pre-diabetic condition. At that time, I corresponded with Dr. Harry Salins in Florida who was the leading researcher at the time. We both observed that drinking lots of coffee was a factor in hypoglycemia yet today doctors say that it is a preventative against diabetes. I felt a lone soul teaching about hypoglycemia and the adrenals…until I read this book. Caffeine stimulates adrenaline!
This book is now a Must Read in my courses.
