5.0 von 5 Sternen extremely useful for learning anatomy 22. April 2007
Von Vinci - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
This set of DVDs is transformed from Acland's preeminent Video Atlas of Anatomy series. It is an extremely navigable learning tool with even higher quality audio and visual resolution. The DVDs are based on true dissected specimens. They are particularly useful for those who need to learn anatomy but have few or no chance to do dissection. I also know some people who want to learn anatomy but they refuse to dissect bodies. For these people, Acland'd DVDs are ideal tools. [...]

I contacted Dr. Acland via his website, and suggested him to make a script of the DVDs. He is very kind and quickly prepare a sample for me. I find that the script can help me not only with understanding his explanation in the DVDs, but also with remembering the details. I even printed his script and took them with me in the subway. I read it, and at the same time try to recall the images in the DVDs. I find it is a very good way to remember so many anatomical terms and structures.

The scripts are now available for download at Dr. Acland's website!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Beautiful Anatomy 3. Juni 2009

This video prosection of the upper extremity is a beautifully prepared, expertly produced aid to the study of anatomy. Having done a dissection course in anatomy, I could not and did not perform as expert a dissection as this video series does. You see cross sectional anatomy that is seldom presented in a formal anatomy lab. Your three dimensional understanding of anatomy will take shape as you watch! Bob Acland, in his soothing British accent, narrates the video and makes you feel as if you're sitting in your living room, in front of the fireplace, sipping a cup of Darjeeling tea! Dr. Acland made it a priority in his life to produce an educational tool for students of anatomy that was affordable on a student's budget. The entire series can be had for far less than most single textbooks!
The series is a pleasure to watch, and there is plenty to refresh the memory of one who has used anatomy daily for over 30 years, as I have. Congratulations, Bob, on a job well done.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Fantastic way to learn plus AMAZING anatomical sections and explanations 27. August 2010
Von DrLee - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Like the other 5 DVDs presented by Dr. Acland, this is no exception to the quality and explanations given. I've never seen any cadavers that look this good and the way he explains everything pertaining to the upper extremities is by far the best I've seen. First he goes over the bones, then the muscles and the insertions and then the nerves in a systematic fashion to give the learner an exceptional feel of what is important and should be studied further. For one, by far, the most important facet of the upper extremities is the brachial plexus and it is a real bear to learn, but it is so pertinent to clinical applications that you just can't ignore it. One absolutely needs to figure out the innervations and which nerve root is responsible for the actions of the arms is absolutely critical to the learning of the student. Dr. Acland provides this for you, even though I thought it was too quick of a review to learn, he gives you the parts you can go over and over at your own pace to learn them properly. These DVDs are a must for anyone who is learning anatomy as are Netters and Rohens. You will not be dissappointed by these DVDs. They show you the perfect sections under perfect conditions. It was one of the centerpieces of my study material and I would highly recommend them to anyone studying anatomy. The great thing is that they can be suited for anyone and you get out of it what you put into it-this is no exception. But, definitely Dr. Acland makes it much easier to learn.
