I have read a lot regarding the Jacey Dugard case and I wanted to know HER own (or more or less own) impressions and how she got through all those years. I also have seen on Youtube an interview with her, which impressed me.
This book gives an idea, how a child and young girl could cope with the horrible circunstances of her life and it was awesome how smart that little girl acted to achieve at least a small window of "own" life. How this girl observed her kidnapper and tried to make the best of his changing moods. And how this girl never lost her hope to see her mother again.
This is a very personal book of a woman who had to go through a very difficult life and so it is really difficult to review it. The way it is written is not very good but she decided to do this by her own with no help from editors. I think it is this narrative really shows the reader what happened without any embellishment. I particularly like the end, when she talks about the therapy with horses, more than the part at the beginning when she details what she had to go through. I would recommend it, as I found it easy to read and I actually finish reading it in a week or so. Also by buying it you contribute to a association established by the author to help reunification of kidnapping victims.
Just for Readers who can stand the cruelty of life. This book is no light fare. But it's reality and it opens peoples eyes - not to look away. To be cautious. It also shows how strong a human can be and don't break under such terrible experiences. Good book but also hard to read.
