For years I've worked to incorporate fitness into my sedentary livestyle. I've always worked in offices or as a freelance writer -- always at a desk. I've sat through most of my career. I've struggled making friends with my treadmill and it's taken forever to get up to 3 miles. At best, I log 5000 steps a day. Knowing how hard it's been to get that much walking done, I've dispaired of ever hitting 10,000 steps a day.

And then, I got this book.

Today, I am already at 7,676 steps and it's not even noon. I have successfully exceeded 10,000 steps the past six consecutive days -- ever since I read this book 7 days ago.

It's a must read. He breaks down the process into manageable, do-able segments.

Trust me, if Sedentary Chick can master this skill, you can too. Great read.

Averaging 10,000 steps a day seemed pretty challenging. But I took the first little step and (finally) got a new battery for my pedometer, the one that's been sitting in a desk drawer for more than a year. I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that 10K steps a day isn't all that difficult; I logged 2,600 just piddling around the house in the morning and another 4,900 steps at my four-hour volunteer shift in the afternoon. And the volunteer office wasn't even all that busy compared to some days. I racked up 9,600 yesterday by walking on a treadmill for two miles and running some errands. Not that hard!! Keeping it up day after day, week after week -- that's another challenge entirely, of course.

Downloading the book also gets you on Mr. Scott's email list if you choose to participate. You'll get some helpful articles about making life changes and getting rid of bad habits. Between the advice in this book and the tips in Mr. Scott's other offerings, I'm hoping to keep on trekking.
