For the people who had left all those negative rude reviews I just can't understand where they find the nerve. Especially after reading all the physical handicaps that Mr Daniels went through to give life to basically a 3 dimensional character from what should've been a uni-dimensional...robot. it is genius. And dedication, and commitment and craft to do so from very limited means in very limited confines. I feel bad for the years of continued anonymity when the story was such a success. It's as if people just want him to shut up about it and move on, as if C3P0 was a privilege to portray and not a big deal. Riiiiight. That kind of anonymity thing nowadays would not go over well in a feature film or even in animation. I love the spots of rebel behaviour that no one else was around to see and of awareness like looking straight at a Three-P0 suspended up top who is "looking right" him. Nice.
I don't feel like his revelations are built on whinings and complaining. On the contrary he's telling it like it in his own way and NO ONE can take that away from him. I enjoy the insights and I enjoyed this read because he was there at the start and it made it fun. Now I'm gonna make some "smelly" popcorn and watch the three original movies and see if I can spot what he talks about in this book. Thank you Mr. Daniels. I appreciate everything you poured into C3P0, from the films to the SW series' and your involvement with bringing to life the ultimate fan tribute of Star Wars Celebration. I C U.

If you are a fan of Star Wars or not...this is a very interesting book by Daniels. It has to be right? He was the ONLY person to see through the eyes of 3PO and wear the beautiful gold "costume".

Other reviews I have read state that Daniels complains often. Sigh. These are accurate stayements anout the authors writing style. However...he makes valid points and says exactly why he was disappointed or hurt or misrepresented with Lucas Films and his role in genetal with the franchise. I do feel for Daniels at times but I also think he could have toned it down a bit. He got to do something MOST ppl dream of and has kept at it his whole life. Check out IMDB and see everything related to Star Wars.

Plz don't let me discourage you with my negative input...it was a Fantastic Read otherwise!

Nessuno ama e si prende cura di C-3PO come Anthony Daniels. Dopo aver letto questo libro ho la conferma di quanto sia grande quest'uomo. Con una scrittura molto scorrevole e semplice, l'autore ci porta all'interno dell'intera storia (con tanto di supporto visivo grazie ad alcune immagini che completano la narrazione), dal primo incontro con il personaggio fino alla sua ultima apparizione (almeno per ora) sui grandi schermi con Episodio IX. Daniels ci spiega cos'ha fatto "scattare la scintilla" tra lui e il droide, com'è stato difficile, soprattutto al tempo della prima trilogia, stare ore e ore dentro quella sorta di "armatura" che rendeva la visione e i semplici movimenti qualcosa di estremamente impegnativo. Non mi dilungherò nei dettagli per evitare di spoilerare troppo ma una cosa che voglio assolutamente dire è che la lettura è stata un turbinio di emozioni: in alcune descrizioni ho avuto i brividi, quelli positivi (come quando parla della prima volta che ha "incontrato" C-3PO o di quando ha sentito per la prima volta le musiche di John Williams); in altri passaggi ho riso, mi sono commossa, sorpresa, dispiaciuta (soprattutto nel constatare quante volte - troppe - sia l'attore che il personaggio siano stati trascurati) ma soprattutto ho potuto notare quanto impegno, dedizione e passione Daniels ha posto nel suo ruolo. Non è un comportamento che si vede in tutti gli attori.
Insomma, per chi, come me, è un devoto fan della saga di Star Wars la lettura di questo libro è qualcosa di imprescindibile.
