Fresh food for the brain, although a bit overenthusiastic,

Rezension bezieht sich auf: Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us (Taschenbuch)
Mr Pink does a great job illustrating what drives motivation in the 21st century - and has actually always driven true motivation. I find this book very applicable for everybody doing anything at all - motivating yourself, figuring out why you like or dislike doing something, working in a business to slowly modernize the way things done, be it bottom-up or top-down.
Problematic is only the enthusiastic way of storytelling - the content is mostly anecdotal and does not consider downsides or side-effects, cultural problems or implementation details. This "it's all so obvious the way I tell it, why isn't everybody already doing this?" approach, without answering that very question, is what ultimately distinguishes self-help stories from books that get read and respected in business, which is a pity.
If you can tolerate that, pick up "Drive: The surprising truth about what motivates us" to get some fresh brain food on how to make work feel less like work. Be advised that you might like it.
