...as without this the BBC would not have decided to keep milking the Sherlock cow by releasing this tie-in guide (btw: bought the book directly at the BBC-shop, not via amazon). Nice idea to do it via a scrapbook written by John in which he takes down his notes on the cases they have solved (only the ones of the films, not the ones he blogs about on his hompepage - so no real additional information). Slight mistakes can be found, e.g. shouldn't be moaned about Doyle's inconsistencies in naming his characters, when the makers of Sherlock obviously couldn't decide whether to name one victim in The Blind Banker either Brian or Adrian Lukis :-)(I cannot comment on mistakes regarding the canon.) However, nice to see screenshots, police reports and newspaper articles printed in the book, to get background information on the motivation of the creators (Moffat and Gatiss)and to learn about the references made to the originals by Doyle. However, not so much exclusive extra material is provided as I hoped it would be, but the post-it war between John and Sherlock makes this book very funny to read and certainly is a must-have for fans as it may help to overcome first symptoms of withdrawal in those awkward moments when neither Internet access nor DVD-players is available...
