Bowling for the truth at Columbine.,
Rezension bezieht sich auf: No Easy Answers: The Truth Behind the Murders at Columbine High School (Taschenbuch)On April 20, 1999, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, two seniors at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, shot to death twelve students and one teacher and wounded many others. This -' the first lines of the 'No Easy Answers' back-cover text -' is what most people know about the Columbine school massacre. But for the ones who want to know more details ' that both perpetrators were known by the police and in psychiatric treatment, for example ' I'd recommend this book.
Brooks Brown, student at Columbine High and friend of the perpetrators himself, and independent journalist Rob Merritt tell the full, true and uncensored story of at first one and later two young men which doesn't just end with the 1999 massacre but with an aftermath as long as the prehistory.
Since Brown and Klebold knew each other since grade school, Brown knew what had happened to the perpetrator before his mind got so dark and he got to know Harris. It is sure that everyone who will read this book will show understanding for the things done in Littleton, even if he or she is a strict defender of violence and current gun laws in the United States. It is the personal atmosphere of the Brown, Harris and Klebold families as well as private interviews and photos which makes the whole thing easier to understand than a police report or a usual TV documentation show without any personal connection to the case.
For non-US citizens, it can as well be very interesting to get to know the situation in the United States, where gun laws and police presence are obviously less important than 'making better' people using antidepressant medicine.
Furthermore, the book is written in medium-level English and missing vocabulary can easily be retrieved from the context which makes it a good choice for everyone interested in the topic and a little skilled in the English language.
