Old World Goodness in Easy-to-Use Hungarian Cookbook,
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Ungarische Küche. 133 traditionelle Rezepte. (Broschiert)Ilona Horvath's "The Traditional Hungarian Kitchen: 133 Traditional Recipes" is intended for people who cook. No mere coffee-table book, it is like a short version of the Betty Crocker Cookbook.
Included within the 133 recipes are the basics. Langos, palancsinta, csirke paprikash, and, of course, goulash. It is filled with straight forward recipes, most with four-color pictures, with serving and presentation suggestions.
Some Hungarian cookbooks can be accused of catering to western tastes over traditional tastes. Not this one. This was published just before the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, and retains the old world goodness that will greet your table.
Those familiar with the Hungarian names will find helpful an index in Hungarian, as well as one in English. The book, originally published in Hungarian in 1955, reads smoothly.
Baked and Fried Goods
I fully recommend "The Traditional Hungarian Kitchen: 133 Traditional Recipes" by Ilona Horvath. Master a few of these dishes (all are easy) and invite your friends home for dinner.
