this book was a gift and it stood around quite some time before i picked it up and couldn't put it down until i finished.

the story is well told, even for a sci-fi newbe. the characters are profoundly moving, the pace is brisk. glish scoops you up and takes you on a swift journey.

i can't really judge whether the scientific concepts of the future world are logical or realistic, yet i believed every word and the world glish created is thoroughly convincing.

this is the only sci-fi i have read, although i tried to excite myself for s. lem and just didn't get passed the second page of any one his stories.

this book was a revelation. in itself and for the genre.
