Good, but not the best,

It's a big case, and we see Scotland Yard in action, as an organization and not only in the person of a single detective, and that added additional interest.
I didn't find it difficult to get into the story but I, too, missed the interaction between Daisy and Alec. He is investigating in London and Daisy is out and about with two of her friends, whose daughters are Belinda's friends, and they have their own adventures. There is less personal involvement than in many of the other books of the series, Daisy is only remotedly acquainted with victim and suspects and doesn't really have a personal interest in solving this crime. She solves it anyway, probably out of habit.
There are some brilliant dialogues between Daisy and one of her friends and a particularly incompetent policeman. In these scenes the typical charme of this series is back again. Apart from that it is a good solid detective story with a tragic background and, indeed, a surprising twist at the end. I enjoyed it.
