Rezension bezieht sich auf: LogiLink PS0011 Print Sever (1-Port, 10/100 Mbit, 1x USB 2.0) (Personal Computers)Abstract: Printer server works like a charm using automatic IP address (DHCP), but manual set-up might be required.
I use Windows 7 x64 and I have 12 years old Okipage 14ex (still working without a single incident, thanks Oki) and reading other recensions, I was a bit sceptical if my printer will be supported. There is a short compatibility list included on the CD disk and no Oki printer was listed.
However, as it turned out, on the computer where my printer was previously installed, the installation went like a charm! On the other computer, where this printer was never used before, my printer was not listed during installation and I had to do some manual installation.
If you buy this printer server and during the installation your printer is not listed, you might try the following: Using Windows Update install your printer as a dummy printer. This way you will ensure that the drivers for your printer is installed within Windows system. When installing your printer server, your printer shall appear on the printer list and all you have to do is select it.
You can also access the printer server using your browser (you can find its IP by some freeware IP scan). Nothing very useful there, but you can turn off automatic IP addressing there. I didn't try to do that as I see no need.
Bottom line: there would be much less anger among customers if instructions would include one or two strategies how to install printers.
4/5 because of deficient instructions.
