I have been enjoying the Harry Potter books very much but was moved to submit this review after reading this last entry in the series. I am not some kind of Ultra-religious Book Burner.. far from it. In fact, I enjoyed fantasy books at a young age. If you scroll down here far enough you will see many other readers confirming my opinion that this last book, while fun and beautifully written, has brought the series to a Darker, more frightening end of the Spectrum and may possibly be a signal that this series is intending to reach out to an Older Audience now. I feel that Parents with easily frightened children or young kids (under age 10 or 11, for example)who tend towards nightmares may, and I say "May".. want to read this themselves BEFORE handing it over to their kid. Another good thing to do would be read it TOGETHER. As a Devout Catholic, I would want to explain some of these concepts to my own child from our point of view but I would never forbid them to read it. I feel that by saying this to you, the parent, in this review, I might be able to communicate to you in a rational way, the importance of sharing good and scary books. Even so.. if this trend continues in future books, this series will cease to be appropriate for young readers and instead would be more appropriately considered a "Young Adult" title which is aimed at children over 12. Just be aware of the content and once you are, enjoy the book for what it is. Just don't be shocked if you find the material a little too mature for your own child.
