To my mind "Ereth's Birthday" is the best book from the wonderful Poppy-series! It stands in line with such big stories like Colin Dann's "The animals of Farthing Wood" - only a bit smaller, a bit less "epos". I only read the books in English and I don't know if they can give their giantic feeling to the German reader, because the power of the words, which makes this little tale so unbelievable, is hidden in its clear and lovely language. I was very amazed that a hand full of a children's story could touch me that hard. I can recommend this book to: all children, who have a big heart, all Mummys, who never forgot how it feels to be young, all Daddys, who want to be good fathers, all Grandmas, who are still children.
Maybe they'll forget Poppy's tale after one week. Maybe they'll forget their names...
