Now and then there is a book that you just can't put down in order to do something else instead of reading, because while you are busy cleaning the house or go shopping or even get some work done, bad bad things might happen in the book. And you wouldn't be there to at least witness them.
Stephen King wrote a few of these very special books. He wrote lots of books, and I enjoyed reading all of them with one exception (Hearts in Atlantis), but although they were all good or very good, a few stand out as special. My favorite has been The Stand. Now it shares the # 1 position with 11.22.63, and who knows, when I read the latest novel again next year, it might give The Stand a little shove down to #2.
I won't spoil anybody's reading experience by writing about what goes on in the book. You can read the outline anywhere on the world wide web if you want to. I suggest that you don't read too much about the novel, you're gonna meet the yellow card man soon enough, and you'll get to Derry in a little while, like it or not - remember Pennywise? Good.
11.22.63 has a few references to older novels, but you don't need to know them. It adds to the fun, but you'll understand everything even if this should be your first Stephen King novel.
You will not be able to leave the book on the table for longer periods of time, so be prepared. Do your shopping before you start reading. If you don't, you'll have to call a pizza later or starve, there will be no other options. And forget about sleep, there won't be time for such nonsense.
Okay, now I said enough; if you believe my enthusiasm is a little out of place, I suggest you find out by yourself weather I praised this novel too much. I didn't. But you can check anytime. Get yourself a copy and start reading. You won't regret it.
