Simply Pop Perfection - Beatle Mania of the 90's,,
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Everything Changes (Audio CD)
This album is simply perfect pop and as amazing today as it was in 1993. The album gave the group their first UK no 1 both in singles and album charts which was unsurprising due to the level of excitment/fame of the band at this point in anticipation of new material. The album had four consecutive no 1 hits the first time in the UK since the Beatles this had happened branding the BBC to label the group the Beatles of the 90's for cultural impact.
This album was also massive worldwide especially Europe and Asia. All 4 no 1's are great although UK Christmas no1 contender 'Babe' is perhaps a little weak. Had this album been released in the US i think American audiences would have a better view of great genuine pop music with depth. Own personal favs are 'Pray','Relight My Fire','Love Ain't Here Anymore','Another Crack in my Heart','Wasting My Time','Whatever You Do To Me','You Are The One' and 'Everything Changes' but the whole album is great.
3rd best selling album of 1993 and 22nd in 1994 in the UK.
In 1994 the album was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize established by the British Phonographic Industry for the best album from the UK or Ireland alongside other nominees including Blur,Pulp,The Prodigy,M People and Paul Weller. Take That are the only boyband to date ever to be nominated.
In 1994 the album won Best Album at the Bravo Otto Awards held in Germany.
The album also holds the UK record for the number of top 10 singles (6) for a group from one album.
In 2012 to celebrate 60 years of the British Singles Charts The Guardian selected one number one track per year as the best. For 1993 'Pray' was selected with the journalist commenting 'Filled with euphoria, guitar riffs and the boys' echoing vocals, this was Take That at their peak, and rightly kept them at No 1 for four weeks.'
Pray also went on to win Best British Video and Best British Single at The Brits (UK Grammys) in 1994.
