Very good but not a jackpot,
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Die Kunst, ein freundlicher Mensch zu sein (Gebundene Ausgabe)This is a very interesting book. Most people write "success-books" about creativity, intelligence, manipulation and authority. But Stefan Einhorn asks instead "why aren't people writing success-books about kindness, rightfulness and ethical thinking?". He is absolutely right on this. Our modern society underlines the necessity of individualism; take care of yourself and your family. We disregard others more than we have done in the past and I believe it is because modern technology allows us to do less on our own. But it doesn't take away the fact we are still precisely the same social creatures that we always have been.
Einhorn tries to figure out how can we develop our ethical thinking and be kinder in general. He also wants to avoid the traps of being abused for your kindness.
The book is good, I didn't find it extraordinary even though it has been a best-seller. Einhorn makes a lot of analogies and examples in the book that I didn't find exactly fitting. Possible - as a native Finnish speaker - I missed so important parts in the German version. But I think many critical readers will think the same. I do recommend reading this book though.
