Rezension bezieht sich auf: Failure by Design: The Story behind America's Broken Economy (An Economic Policy Institute Book) 1st (first) Edition by Bivens, Josh (Gebundene Ausgabe)
This is a book that showed much promise to give a deep insight into the problems in the American labor market with its promise of data driven analysis. While their are some interesting passages on the American situation and some informative date often the conclusions reached by the author often bear no relation to the facts. The book reads like a political treatise with no footnotes in the text to support his conclusions and even some sources to his graphs are missing.
His proposals to improve employment, while admirable, appear to be myopic to the larger American and Global economic issues. He is shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic. Humorous conclusions were that the US should go into more debt to solve their indebtedness and the Chinese are the source of the US problems for swapping real goods for American paper.
A dissapointing purchase and anyone searching for understanding of the American economy and labour market won't find it here.
