I was pleasantly surprised to discover book 5 of the Breakers series was out already, bought it more or less blindly and was not disappointed. The writing style, story development, the main characters - all at its best again, just as in the preceding books. But there is more, with every book, and with this one too, the author manages to add something new. In Cut Off, we get to know a new location and some new characters. The series keeps just getting better. What I like most about the series is that Mr. Robertson manages to always keep some of the familiar characters around while developing new plot lines and that the plots in each of the books are mostly self-contained. That makes reading the books highly enjoyable. I always get the impression that the author very much cares for both his characters and his readers. And that it is in stark contrast to other best selling book series, where the characters, the plot lines and the interconnections just get more and more complex with each book, without giving the reader much of a solution (somehow, Game of Thrones comes to mind..)
Well, and the teaser in the epilogue for books 6 is very promising.
