We are plunged immediately into this alien world. Soon we deduce this is future earth, somehow covered by a layer of sound 1,000 metres thick, and people have learned how to swim in it. A combination of a reverse "Waterworld" and Frank Herbert's "Dune" without all the politics and prophecies. Howey captures perfectly the workings of the human mind and feelings in extraordinary situations. This story definitely lives up to "Wool", and Vic raising the Honey Hole is an amazing feat, which for some reason made me think of Scarlet Witch in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron".
