Apart from the fact that two chapters of the book are only available as pdf for download, the volume ist worth while the purchase. Jeremy Brin does not focus on a specific programme but on lighting itself; which lights are commeon, which are the pros and cons of a certain light or of ist shadows, resepectively; how to setup lighting for indoor and outdoor scenes; how to simlulate global illumination/indirect light with normal lights and so on.
Personally, I use Poser which is not a full-fledged 3D programme; however, the principles of this book still apply.
Overall, I recommend it for everyone who is a beginner or intermediate with 3D. I wished I had bought this book years ago.

The book covers photography, cinematography and 3D computer graphics and animation. In visual art, Light is the most important aspect if them all because without light, there is nothing to behold except a black frame. The author covers the subject superbly. This book is a good investment of money and time.
