Milton analyzes Second Language Acquisition from various angles. One of his main findings is that second language proficiency in general corresponds strongly with vocabulary size (lexicon). Beyond that, he also analyzes HOW vocabulary is acquired, HOW vocabulary size might be placed within the Common European Framework for Languages Levels and that vocabulary sizes required for certain levels may vary between different languages (e.g. English, French, Spanish).

Thanks to his crystal clear and pointed style, which is refreshingly devoid of the otherwise so common verbosity and jargon-laden passages, it's a good read. It certainly made me a little smarter.

Highly recommendable for teachers, tutors, students and other whizz kids interestend in SLA.
