5.0 von 5 Sternen Bittersweet but oh so good!,
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Heart on a Chain (Kindle Edition)I don't want to repeat what others already said about the storyline.
I just want to recommend this book to you. It is one of a kind! Lately I read a lot of YA books (Slammend!, Easy, The Boy who sneaks in my bedroom, Rock me) and all were really good. But only Heart on a chain made me cry and laugh and cry again all through the book.
The story is so bittersweet and you will love both Henry and Kate so much after this story. It is not cheesy but rich of emotions.
It is a keeper for sure!
Just read it already!

Rezension bezieht sich auf: Heart on a Chain (Kindle Edition)I have a real hard time writing a review about this book.
My main message is: READ IT, savour it; enjoy it and if you did, tell others to read it as well...
At first the story can seem a bit too cliché, too black and white but still ... it could not be otherwise, everything was written the way it had to be.
Plot: Kate and Harry were friends since Kindergarten in a perfect and happy world, they even started a small timid "love affair" at the age of 14 with as much as kisses and holding hands. But then Harry leaves with his parents.
4 years later he returns, but Kate has changed, a lot, her life has changed. She is afraid, hides, never fights back anyone, so when Harry is nice to her, she does not trust him. How he manages to tame her slowly, carefully; why she has changed all ... all of this you will have to find out by reading this amazing story.
Her dark cruel life is so different to his nice, ideal, light-hearted life.. The introduction and the epilogue are written from his point of view, the rest is described from her point of view. This is a very smart idea, it gives a great understanding of both of them. The characters are amazing, really! This is my 150th review and it is the first time I would like to really know a guy like that. Tender, patient, understanding, protective absolutely amazing and she is such a nice counterpart to him.
Even though the story is very black and white and there are some mean persons I could not really hate them, as Kate is not able to hate them either.
The only thing that I did not like was the twist of the story at the end (I hope once you read it you will understand) it was like in so many other love stories and here so unnecessary.
But anyway I could not put the book out of my hand stayed up too late at night... but did not regret a second of it.
I hope you will enjoy the read MBTM

5.0 von 5 Sternen One of the most beautiful stories I've ever read!!!!!!,
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Heart on a Chain (Kindle Edition)"Heart on a Chain" is about two people, Kate and Henry. They went to kindergarten and primary school together and in 6th grade he gives her his special valentine. After that they can't be separated - until he and his family move away four months later and she never sees him again...
She has a pretty hard and tough life, her Dad being an alcoholic after losing his job and never being around; her Mum being a drug addict after losing her child late in her pregnancy and taking out her desparation and anger on her.
What tops that, is that she's the most popular victim for the bullies at school.
One day, 6 years later, her life changes. Henry and his family move back to town. She is totally embaressed that he has to see her that way, being harassed buy other students and being really shy and a joke to anyone else; him being all popular and good looking. She can't really fathom why he keeps trying to talk to her and get in touch with her again. He doesn't give up though and slowly a friendship develops that leads to something more... With his help she faces some severe changes in her life and for the first time for 6 years starts to live again.
The whole book is written from Kate's point of view, except for the prologue and epilogue. Those are written through Henry's eyes and are really a perfect start and finish of the book, really sweet.
All I can say is that this book is one of the most wonderful piece of literature I've ever read! It's not simply a love story it's more about the struggles of a poor, lonely girl who didn't have the best cards in life and how she is able to change her life throgh his help and support. It's captivating writing style really let's you see how Kate feels and what horrors she's been going through her whole life. It makes you want to help her, keep her safe and just be happy. The love story that unfolds between the two protagonists is so beautiful without any tacky-ish high school romance parts in it that would take away the cradibility of the story. I just couldn' put my Kindle down, I read this book in one day, although I told myself while downloding this sample to only have a quick impression of it and then buy it eventually after the holidays...well I just couldn't wait^^!
I can wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone, really, it made me cry, be sad and smile so much, it's definitely an intense read!!!
Oh and please don't refrain from buying it because of the crappy cover or rather corny title. It's nothing like that!!
Please read it!!!
