5.0 von 5 Sternen The Finale!
First, I strongly recommend to read these stories in the correct order. That would be The Belgariad I to V, The Mallorean I to V, Belgarath and Polgara. You don't have to read The Rivan Codex. That's some background material for the "hardcore" fan.

Then I must admit, I AM a hardcore fan. I read everything Eddings publishes, most of it numerous times. Yes, it's rather...

For readers who aren't already wondering what the point to the previous four books was, this final volume will bring the question leaping dazzlingly to mind as the climax comes to revolve around a 50/50 jackpot that nothing which came before will influence.

Yes, it's rather light reading, but if you want deep, you should stay with Tolstoi or whatever. I like my Fantasy entertaining and with a happy ending. And if you're into Fantasy, the big Eddings sagas are a must!

The final volume of the ten part saga around Belgarion and his friends is somewaht "business as usual" - though it's a good business! The final confrontation drags on a little too long for my taste - mainly because I already guessed the "secret" meaning of the prophecies. And of course you know who will win beforehand.

So what - it's a fantastic read!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Great book, 2. Mai 2000
Von Ein Kunde
Any one that has ever read fantasy knows that the plot is always predictable, but it is NOT the plot we read it for. It is the character involvement, and the minor detail that make a good book. In those area's, this is a great book, and very well written.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Great....!, 6. April 2000
Von
Kyrina (That's my business, not yours.) - Alle meine Rezensionen ansehen
The book is great. Eddings has combined a good storyline with humor and good language to make an absorbing book. Although I wonder was it really necessary to make the ending so long? Although i like the Belgariad and the Elenium better than the Malloreon and the Tamuli, its still a great book. The only one problem is that Eddings keeps on using certain words and phrases. Think for a moment - How many times has the word and the phrase 'apoplexy' and 'One does ones best' been used in all the books? Theres also one particularly funny error in my copy of 'The Seeress of Kell. I don't know if it appears in any of the other copies, but it appears in mine. Near the middle of the book, after Sadi has poisoned Naradas, the Grolim sorcerer, the book says that Naradas was laid on a bier in the temple of Chamdar, the Arendish God. If you read the Belgariad, you'll know that the Arendish God is actually Chaldan and that Chamdar is a Grolim sent by Ctuchik to find Garion and Polgara. Chamdar is also the person that killed Garion's parents. If you'll overlook these small inaccuracies, the book is a great book. I still think so, even though that error involving Chamdar sent me into gales of laughter.

it was a bit sad to read the book knowing its the last bonbon, i bellive Eddings felt the same when he wrote the last 50 pages.

For readers who aren't already wondering what the point to the previous four books was, this final volume will bring the question leaping dazzlingly to mind as the climax comes to revolve around a 50/50 jackpot that nothing which came before will influence. Follow that with the longest anti-climax ever written for a fantasy series (the story is essentially over halfway through), then ponder how this unnecessary 2nd series, so blatantly obviously written for the money, won over so many fans.

(Note in the interest of fairness: I did not read the earlier Belgariad series.)

4.0 von 5 Sternen Great Book!!! I want another one!!, 8. September 1999
Von Ein Kunde
The Belgariad and the Mallorean were some of the best series I have ever read by far... they were interesting, and I absolutely loved the characters! This book definitley needs another one to tie up some more loose ends. I really want to find out what happened to Vella and Beldin, the names of Pol's twins. DAVID EDDINGS WRITE ANOTHER BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Perfect ending to perfect series!!!!!!, 9. August 1999
Von Ein Kunde
Great how things end up in this book.(i don't like it that it's already over though). It's great that it doesn't end right after the final battle between good and evil like in so much other books, this time everybody gets dropped of home. It was a big surprise that Sadi became one of the good guys and i was releaved that Kheldar came along again(he's the best). Why didn't we got to now where Beldin and Vella went? And what are the names of Polgara's twins, are they boys or girls or both?Well mr.& mrs.Eddings reason enough for another book, don't you think? It was also nice to see Zakath turn to his good old self again. I have to say that the Belgariad/Mallorean series are the best ever. David and Leigh Eddings are the number one Fantasy authors of the world.

5.0 von 5 Sternen intelligent ending to a great series!, 28. Juli 1999
Von Ein Kunde
This book is an intelligent ending to a great series. Instead of the classical uber-triumph of good, David Eddigns has developed a third destiny to replace the opposing forces which has had monopoly on the rest of the two series. It is intersting to note that the fate which befell Zandramas was not at gratifying as one would have hoped it would be. I for one, would have liked to have Polgara and the grolim sorceress to have it out, unleashing devastaing forces and currrents. I suppose I have to satisfy myself with Cyraydis nicely putting Zandramas on his place. The rapid pace of the book is enough to satisfy any hard-core fantasy fan. One only needs to read the book carefully and determine the next event. Eddings fans have to be honest and admit that the have read the book(s) more than once due to an incredible appetite to re-read and explore the plethora of ideas and themes abounding in the series. It is refreshing to note that more dialogue was awaarded to grolims and other miniions, as opposed to the previous series. With this device, Eddings has delivered insightful visions as to how the grolim mind(s) actually operate. It was a brilliant read with Agachak having it out with Zandramas, though I do wish that he had not ended the fight so soo. It is incredibily hard to find good magical battles taking the reader to the scene - and then it ends - rather abruptly might I add. I think Polgara's twins are girls, though I welcome anobody to enter with me in a leisurely discourse on the matter and otehr themes and ideas in DAvid Eddings' books.
