5.0 von 5 Sternen Refreshing experience, 31. Dezember 2012
Dag Kyndel "Kottebo" (Stockholm, Sweden) - Alle meine Rezensionen ansehen
Rezension bezieht sich auf: Euryanthe (Ga) (Audio CD)
This seldom heard and almost never staged opera is a refreshing experience and something all friends of Weber should have. Earlier I had an EMI version of this recording on three tapes with terrible sound, unlistenable. Not so here. The sound is crisp and clean with fine dynamics. Best of all: Most singers are world famous artists at the height of their careers. Jessey Norman shines and the underrecorded Rita Hunter (who sang Turandot at the MET!) tackles her difficulties with aplomb. Gedda is his reliable self, he is one of my favourite tenors.
And then: The package is one of the most well manufactured and beautiful I have seen. Decca should have packed their award winning Fidelio with Kaufmann/Stemme like this! The CD book (no jewel case) is included in a paper box with a booklet (56 pages) with interesting comments and synopsis in German and English. The one and only drawback: The libretto comes only in German. How Berlin Classics could let this pass is hard to understand.
My strong recommendations! Another edition is out on Amazon, buy this, it's much more handsome!
