Lady Be Good was the beginning of my addiction to Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Ever since I finished it, I can't seem to get enough of her!
Lady Be Good is about golf pro Kenny Traveler and his leading lady, Lady Emma Wells-Finch. Pick up the book and get ready for laughs. Kenny has been suspended from golf for bad behavior and he needs to get his good behavior act together. Lady Emma doesn't want to marry a duke and therefore needs to do something really bad, so her reputation will be blemished. When these two mismatched people clash, the explosion is wild.
SEP has done it again with her latest novel, it has all the elements that has made her name so great in the contemporary romance world. Go n'get it!

It is impossible to read this book and not find yourself grinning and laughing. Even in public places when I was trying to be inconspicuous - I found myself grinning like a fool and chuckling. People around me tried to see what I was reading! My children begged me to let them in on the humor. The only complaint you will have about author Susan Elizabeth Phillips is that she needs to publish more! She will not only have you thoroughly enjoying the main characters Emma and Kenny but she will entertain you with the antics and relationships of the "supporting cast" of Torie and Dexter. She brought back old favorites - Francesca and Dallie Beaudine. No one does a better job of offering greating subplots while keeping the main story at peak entertainment. Please, Susan, more books!!!

The worst thing about SEP is that she has set such hight standards that even the slightest variation on her themes will get her in big trouble with her fans! Compared with the excellent "It had to be you" or "Nobody's baby but mine", this book doesn't quite make the grade. The hero isn't as smart or engaging as past heros (noone touches Cal or Dan), but the heroine is so much like Gracie Snow (Heaven, Texas) that it's scary. And while it's borderline believable that Bobby Tom (God, I really disliked that name) might really fall in love with a woman he consistently considered beneath him all through the novel (you can tell I didn't like this one, in fact, I'm considering reviewing it) anyway, the love story between Kenny and Emma somehow doesn't really come across. First of all, the remarks that he really is intelligent AND has history books at home don't convince me he has common interests with a British school teacher. But even allowing for the fact that love isn't a logical conclusion of common interests, I also didn't buy the fact that Kenny sort of "overlooks" the fact that Emma is basically too bossy for him because he thinks it's funny. Otherwise, the wacky secondary characters in SEP books are getting better and better!! Loved every single one of them and I'm also dying to have a book about Ted Beaudine!!!!

Lady Be Good has to be my most favorite Susan Elizabeth Phillip book yet! I absolutely fell in love with Emma and Kenny (espically Kenny, who I know has to be the HOTTEST man!). Not only will you enjoy Emma and Kenny, but Kenny's family (espically his sister Tori). Emma was always up to something that had me cracking up. And Kenny was always one step ahead of the determined Lady Emma to keep her out of trouble. Believe me these two are absolutely hilarous together! I started this book on a Sunday night, and all day at work Monday I couldn't wait to get home and finish it. Then when I did get home to read, I noticed I was trying to drag out finishing the book, all because I didn't want it to end! Lady Be Good is definetely a wonderful book that you will absolutely fall in love with!

I can't believe she did it again! She keepes getting better and better. I love her other books sooo much (especially her beloved Chicago Stars series). I did not think she could possibly beat them. She did - this is my favorite SEP book. Kenny is good enough to eat, ladies. And Emma is hilarious. They are true opposites, but perfect together. Please read this book for the hot tub scene alone. RUN to your local bookstore and buy yourselves a copy of this book. It is simply delightful. I could NOT put it down (and believe me, I usually have a very short attention span!). Happy reading! This book is one of my favorites of all time!

This is one of those times that I really wish we could type in the amount of stars. I would give this at least 15.This has to be the very best book she has ever written. She made Kenny so terrific you just wanted to hug him, even when he was being dense. And lady Emma was a treasure by far. I sincerely hope these two will be brought back again and again. This book made me laugh outloud over and over. This book was smashing Susan. This is one I'm keeping to read repeatedly, and thats a first.

I loved this book. I loved the interaction between the two lead characters, and all the ancillary characters. This book was pure Susan Elizabeth Phillips; unlife First Lady which was a disappointment. The story was light, fun, funny, engaging. I read it in three hours. Don't plan on reading it right before you go to sleep if you plan on going to bed early.

Like most of her readers, I have read all of her books. This one, though follows her usual style, certainly is not her best (Try "It Had To Be You",or "Heaven, Texas", then you'll know what I mean). Still, one do have the usual delights in her books. Lady Emma sounds less assuring but I actually like Kenny. Susan Elizabeth Phillips has done a great job in creating this male character. Less sex scenes are in this book though a good one is already enough. What is most promising about this book (and all of her books) is that as the story goes on, Susan Elizabeth Phillips writes better and better and the characters are more developed. What I really enjoy most of all her books is the last part as how the man will try all his best to win the lady's heart. The way Kenny wins Emma's heart finally is fascinating.(You should TRY "HEAVAN, TEXAS" for the best example). Overall, "Lady Be Good" is a good romance.

After reading (on audio from the library) Dream a Little Dream (my 1st by SEP)& thoroughly enjoying it, I thought I'd give Lady Be Good a try (also on audio). It was so gooodd! What really made it extra good was the way the characters voices were done by the reader -the Texas drawl & the British accent. The girls in my carpool enjoyed it so much. We laughed til we cried and oohed and awed through the whole book - 3 times. We listened to it 3 X's. Almost had to pull off the road once because the driver was laughing so hard. The way SEP describes the scenes you can feel yourself right there. Her descriptions are so vivid. I loved it so much I'm going to buy the audio book to keep forever. I'll be able to listen to it anytime I feel like I need a pick-me-up.Better than Prozac. A must read or listen (audio)!
