This book is, along with "Seth Speaks", and a few of the other "Seth" books, the most important set of books I have ever read. The information comes from a personality known a "Seth", a teacher who was channeled by Jane Roberts. Seth has lived many lives on Earth, and his perspective, as one who once lived here but now "resides" in another dimension, is riveting. I know many people will find it very weird to consider the idea that a "dead" person could channel information, but after reading this book I think you will be convinced.
The book is about meta-physics in the truest sense of the world - above physics. Unlike religion, which presents a set a dogmatic beliefs, this book presents non-judgemental information. The approach is "try it; if it makes sense to you, use it."
Some of the insights have to do with how we shape our own reality. Seth teaches us that we always have a choice about what is happening in our lives, and provides insights as to why seemlingly bad things may be happening. In all cases, these things have to do with something that we have chosen. Its not about karma, or retribution, or atonement. Its more about creating the kind of life you want to have for yourself. Once you realize the mechanics of things and how the universe works, you can shape your life to better suit you.
This is what I mean by meta-physics. This book is almost a "how to guide" of the universe. Once you know what the mechanisms are, you have a much better time understanding how to use them.
I don't mean to say that this is simple. The lessons are often complex and difficult to make sense of. Part of that has to with the notion that the way in which our earthly thought process works only captures a very small part of what the universe is all about. Our brains don't always "get it." But the good news is that our "souls" do.
I can honestly say my life was dramatically improved by this and the other Jan Roberts books. They take a lot of work - you have to be willing to let go of lots of concepts you've spent your whole life building. But if you do, the world starts making a whole lot more sense. What more can one ask of a book?

I read this book back in 1974, and I still consider it the best explanation of our purpose in life, which is to learn how to successfully create reality. Not only do you learn the philosophy, Seth shows many practical examples of these concepts in action.

You are responsible for your experiences. This book will empower you like no other...because it's your thoughts that make things happen - literally!

Get into control of your life now.

This book will change you. Master it!

If I could read only one book in all of my lifetime, it would be this book. If you can take in and understand its contents, reflect on the messages that Seth gives to all of us, then you will be able to live a life much richer in experience and much deeper in meaning. This book takes the reader much "deeper" than other disciplines or areas of thought. It goes well beyond the ordinary self-help book to take you further into the questions of consciousness that we all ask ourselves from time to time. Read this book and your life can be changed forever.

While the majority of human thought struggle to find (or avoid) the answers to their existence from outside themselves, there are those born with a 'knowing' which comes from within. It is as if a communication exists within them that is closed to most. Furthermore, while the majority of human literature urges the reader to look outside themselves for the answers (or to shun those answers), there are some who opens up that inner communication of 'knowing'. This is such a book. The wonderful paradox of Seth is that whether he is the subconscious of late Jane Roberts or seperate somehow -speaking from the mainstream point of view- does not in any way deter his message. Instead it further solidifies it because of the obvious brilliance of the author. I have FELT his message to be true, and I will explain how I know this. How can it otherwise be that while reading this book, I can stop on the middle of the page and 'remember' the rest without reading on? This book is not dogma; this book is a trigger to realize a truth that words cannot speak. Our language is not constructed to refer to I as the first, second, and third person simultaneously. I AM. I WILL. I CREATE. Read this book if you haven't, and you will perhaps see for yourself. For there is no 'You', or is that what 'you' call 'your' Self?

I first read "Seth Speaks" ten years ago and interestingly began reading it on the date in Januray that Seth began his dictation through Jane Roberts. Synchrony? Those who are serious about dream work speak of an "aha" experience when an insight is acurrate. Joseph Campbell also speaks of the "Aha" experience. I had that experience reading "Seath Speak", and an even bigger one reading NPR. I've read extensively about world religions, quantum physics, astro physics, Jung, Campbell, and on and on and on. For me, NPR ties everything together and makes great sense. After all, if I can imagine it as being true, what is to stop the divine from being even more creative. I imagine the reality Seth speaks of to be only the tip of the proverbial iceberg. NPR took my world view (rational/materialsm) and showed me how limiting it was. It completely obliterated my fear of death, and gave meaing to a world that had seemingly gone mad. It put me at peace with myself and the world. Nothing else did that for me although people like Jung, Campbell and Fox helped. The message is somewhat complex, and certainly revolutionary. The message in Robert's books so impressed me that I put the concepts in the form of a novel, "Gideon McGee's Dream," for teens and adults. The concepts in NPR freed my creative spirit and that is what the book is all about, an ever expanding and dynamically creative universe.

It is easy to mistake this book for drivel. Usually it is placed in new age sections, though it is not a new age book. The airy-fairy art on the book cover doesn't help either. Then, upon opening the book, when you discover that the entire book was supposedly dictated in a trance, you will be forgiven for feeling an urge to drop it and run away. And merely skimming through the book for a few minutes will not be enough to overturn any bias you may have against it. It may take an hour of reading before you realize that the book is making complete sense, unfortunately enough, and that it is offering very profound and practical advice about human experience. If Jane Roberts had never claimed to speak for "Seth," she would be regarded as a brilliant philosopher today. The whole point is that, since consciousness forms matter and not the other way around, there are no limits to our own experience other than those we impose with our beliefs. This whole book is an attempt to get the reader to confront his/her limiting beliefs (in a much deeper way than is usually meant) and to give validity to the depth and power of individual conscious experience. That's the basis for all Seth books. No "Truth", no cults, no mythology, no worship. Once you get past the cover and the "trance" (it was never called channelling), the message is harmless at worst and life-changing at best.

This is the kind of book that one can read over and over and always discover something new,the Seth books provide information and knowledge to be studied for a lifetime(s). I have enjoyed this book because it always brought me back to my self,no need to blame others,it provided me with a great sense of self-worth and a rather impatient curiosity to know the "secrets" of the universe and of myself.

I first read this book in 1976, I believe, and it has been my bible, my primary spiritual reference ever since. It was and remains a daily epiphany, began the journey of self-empowerment, reshaped the very context with which I perceived and interacted with Reality, and so forever altered the directions I chose in life from that time forth.
I ceased to be a victim with this book. I began to understand and experience my own Godhood instead.
I can't even imagine another book having such an impact. It is the standard by which all other "revealed" teachings should be measured. If it lacks some of the flowery New Age language of other, more recent channeled teachings, it makes up for it countless times over in sheer content and practical implications.
You need this book, and its "follow-up" companion, 'The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events'. Read NPR first, let it thoroughly soak in, and then read INME. If you read with an open mind and a burning need to know what's going on around here, as well as a complete willingness to accept full responsibility for your own experience, then your life will be forever changed by these two books, and by Seth.

A dear friend gave me this book over 10 years ago, and I have been creating my life my way ever since. It saved me at a time when as a young adult I was lost in meaningless unquestioned beliefs from childhood. If I had a billion dollars I would place a copy in every hotel room in the world! It is that good...altought at first I thought it was just some new age gibberish, being the critical minded science nerd that I was. This book will take you beyond science, beyond any of the limited ideas of traditional thought, it will take a year or so to get over the inital shock. I have never really stopped reading this book...It is trutly holographic in that any thing you read will be relavant in some way. In short we are all living in a fantastic self-created virtual reality world...only we have fallen asleep and forgotten that we are creating everything in our lives and are co-creating the world with everyone else in the world! The bottom line, "The Nature of Personal Reality" is the lost operating manual for you life. The true challenge of living is to realize the infinite freedom WE ALL HAVE!

"You create your own reality." The main thrust of this book is to explain exactly how beliefs, thoughts and emotions create our own personal realities. I have read it three times and I learn more about myself with each reading. If you are seriously looking to understand more about yourself, and therefore God, then this is a must read.
Seth's main theory is that God is All That Is, and we, being part of God, have His (Her) creative abilities. The book has exercises and suggestions to help each person improve their own life. I highly recommend this book
