5.0 von 5 Sternen well written and thoroughly researched
This was a well written and thoroughly researched book documenting the treatment of the Armenians living under Turkish rule. Despite the scholarly nature of this work, it is not a dry academic tome. I highly recommend this book for those who seek to gain insight into this episode of genocide which, in many ways, may have inspired Hiltler's later genocide of the...

This is unmitigated propaganda. The author has certainly read thousands of pages of all kinds of sources. Unfortunately all this reading was apparently done with the sole intent to "prove" the Armenian genocide, and without the attempt to understand the historical context, and find - to the extent possible - the historical truth (which would have included an analysis of...

Rezension bezieht sich auf: The History of the Armenian Genocide: Ethnic Conflict from the Balkans to Anatolia to the Caucasus (Taschenbuch)
This ist the best ever written book about the armenian genozide. It reveals the historical context, the massacres of Abdul Hamid Era, the upcoming of youngturks and their nationalism and the culmination of all to the genocide on the armenians and other nationalities like assyrians and greek. The author is the well known and established expert on the armenian genozide!

This is unmitigated propaganda. The author has certainly read thousands of pages of all kinds of sources. Unfortunately all this reading was apparently done with the sole intent to "prove" the Armenian genocide, and without the attempt to understand the historical context, and find - to the extent possible - the historical truth (which would have included an analysis of the consequences and vices of Armenian/Greek nationalism and a research on the division of the Ottoman ruling class). Formulations like "the shackles of the Ottoman Empire" are just not objective. The Ottoman Empire was certainly more complex than that. The Armenian genocide was appalling, but just blaming "Turks" or "Islam" in general terms doesn't help anybody. The worst effect of this sort of propaganda is that it makes reconciliation between Turks and Armenians harder. Which Armenian would like to even meet killers and opressors and their unrepenting children and grandchildren? Which Turk would would like to discuss anything with people who basically accuse Ottoman/Turkish/Islamic culture of despotic barbarism?
