5.0 von 5 Sternen Could very possibly change your perception of reality., 15. Juli 1998
Von Ein Kunde
Rezension bezieht sich auf: The Invisibles Vol. 1: Say You Want a Revolution (Taschenbuch)
This book is a MUST read for anyone with Deconstructionist or Discordian views. It is a comic book, but don't let others opinions of comics and their content sway you. This is no juvenile super-hero in tights smash-em-up for 23 pages. The Invisibles is about subversion of the status quo, deconstruction of patterned and controlled thought and trying to make sure everyone benefits from the end of the world. This book could hold some very real changes of perception for you. As the young Dane McGowan/Jack Frost is initiated into the Invisibles, so are you, given small tidbits that the reality we're all being held to is only that way because it benefits others for you to see reality in this light. You create your reality, this book can and will show you that. There are large and sinister forces behind a lot of very shady dealings in government, business, entertainment, etc., not just in the U.S., but in the world. Don't take my word for it, start looking around, question aut! ! hority and what you see on TV, you might start to see what I mean. Grant Morrison has an eye that sees past all of this. If you really get into the Invisibles, it will seem like you're being let in on a very big secret. Admittedly, it can be a very cryptic and challenging read at times, but if you're willing to put in some effort, and research this work outside of this collection or the monthly issues, you may just start to find and see "the big secret" I've described. This book could change your life, and may start us all on the road to true physical and spiritual freedom.

5.0 von 5 Sternen OUTSTANDING! a must-read for open-minded people and those beyond, 7. September 2010
Verifizierter Kauf(Was ist das?)
Rezension bezieht sich auf: The Invisibles Vol. 1: Say You Want a Revolution (Taschenbuch)
Now what to say about that comic except that it is the most outrageous, extravagant, fabulous, inspiring, weird one my eyes have ever come across? It is mind-opening, referring to so many cultures and subcultures it is difficult to imagine the level of creativity the author has access to, and it really seems to me that he is not joking when he talks about hypersigils and their tremendous influence on his life/work. As someone before me asked, isn't there anything more than 5 stars? This comic is just extraordinary, it's one heaven&hell of a comic, meaning it's capable of sending you up and down 'n' around the realms of anything you believe is 'truth'. If YOU are ready for that trip and let it happen.. the more confusing, disillusioning, disturbing the trip might get, the deeper the mystic revelation might be. In fact you want to know: yes, this comic series resembles a drug experience, it is really a journey of awakening.

In a way, the comic deals with the methods of mind control and civil disobedience in early 21st century. Scared white men exploiting the mass of the people. They are acting cunningly and without any qualms. They use their economic and political, military, medicinal and media power to oppress those who are ridden by their desire to conform and to obey. Why do we obey, how do we conform? We obey our desires and we react to our greedy patterns not knowing how to get a grip, not knowing how to get in touch with ourselves and others, but mostly we lose contact with ourselves. We act foolishly because our desires are created by our minds. We do not know our mind. Thus, it proves to be quite a simple procedure for a planetary ever-more machine-like corporate industrial conglomerate consisting of media, pharmaceutical medicine, military, and other well-established brainwashing institiutions of our present society, it is quite simple for this complex structure to influence what we like/don't like and how we discern humanity according to our likes/dislikes. So in a way, it also deals with ourselves (our 'selfing' process) and how we perceive ourselves and the world we live in, how we create the world we think we live in by habitual though-speech-patterns. I could go on, but to no avail: Please read yourself and Enjoy the adventures of King Mob, Fanny, Boy, Robin and Jack!!!

Grant Morrison about his work: "My own comic book series The Invisibles was a six-year long sigil in the form of an occult adventure story which consumed and recreated my life during the period of its composition and execution. The hypersigil is an immensely powerful and sometimes dangerous method for actually altering reality in accordance with intent. Results can be remarkable and shocking."

5.0 von 5 Sternen It's bloody brilliant, ya wag!, 9. Juli 1998
Rezension bezieht sich auf: The Invisibles Vol. 1: Say You Want a Revolution (Taschenbuch)
It's brash, it's trippy, it's violent, and it's very, very literate. Grant Morrison has definitely pushed the envelope of comic-book storytelling with this one. With fascinating, well-drawn (pun intended) characters, a tight narrative, and references I still don't get after the third read, it's a great read. Beware- this isn't for the narrow-minded.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Nice and smooth., 20. Dezember 1996
Von Ein Kunde
Rezension bezieht sich auf: The Invisibles Vol. 1: Say You Want a Revolution (Taschenbuch)
This may not be the ideal representation of it, but the Invisibles is a
great comic novel. Sure, everyone knows the stereotype of comic books: big guys in tights hurting each other.
But this is so much more. Transexual shamen hurting otherdimensional insect-armour women! Nectar-sucking bemasked other-dimensional dwarves!
And quite possibly the first story to contain both John Lennon and the Marquis DeSade in plot-advancing roles.
If you enjoy this particular chunk of the story, it gets better both plot-movement and art-wise in the later issues, which should be reprinted in trade format soon.
Entropy in the UK is particularly good, and the second volume is starting any day now. Bloody Hell in America indeed.

5.0 von 5 Sternen One hell of a good book, 11. September 1999

Rezension bezieht sich auf: The Invisibles Vol. 1: Say You Want a Revolution (Taschenbuch)
I picked up the Invisibles when I was bored in my local comic book store and was blown away. No, not at first, not at the begining but a tid bit later when the information began to sink in. How much references and information does Grant Morrison have in his head? This book makes you think, and wonder about the modern world and the obstructed view of the world in which we live in. Anyway, it's a goddamn fine book so I recomend that you buy it and send Grant cash.

Yeah, I know, it's in comic book format. But this has made a believer out of me. I just bought another "Invisibles" title and will keep an eye out for other Grant Morrison projects. This series is extremely well written and thought-provoking. It will change how you perceive your world. Not only that, but its entertaining! The art is quality and the story will make you want to be Invisible!!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Brilliant, but even better with the rest of the series, 5. März 1999
Von Ein Kunde
Rezension bezieht sich auf: The Invisibles Vol. 1: Say You Want a Revolution (Taschenbuch)
If you like R.A. Wilson, Lovecraft, Moorcock, Crowley, the Beatles, voodoo, chaos magick, or anything else on Earth, then pick this up. Morrison questions everything and he does it in style. These stories read better in arcs, and get better each time you read them. They confuse some people, but this is easily remedied by anyone willing to do a little research that will ultimately prove to his or her advantage. This book may change your life. Are you afraid of that?

5.0 von 5 Sternen This is as good as comics get!, 26. Februar 1999
Von Ein Kunde
Rezension bezieht sich auf: The Invisibles Vol. 1: Say You Want a Revolution (Taschenbuch)
As an avid reader of comics and lover of chaos, this is the one work that draws me back time and time again. I originally read the first 10 issues in college while I was bored one night. The next day I cracked open my student load to pick up this graphic novel and complete my collection to the current issue (around 23) More than any other literary work I own, this one has drawn me back repeatedly. I'm currently reviewing the series for the 8th time. Most comics I only read once...maybe twice. This comic is a keeper

Rezension bezieht sich auf: The Invisibles Vol. 1: Say You Want a Revolution (Taschenbuch)
This unbelivable work brutally blends paranoia, conspiricy, sex, magic, time travel, good vs. evil, and everything else people are too squeamish to believe.
If you love the X-Files, science-fiction, modern occult studies, or James Bond films...Check this out--and learn to stay invisible!
