In my opinion, Daniel Clowes is one of the best comic book artists around. He can not only draw, but write just as well. Reading a book like "Ghost world" or "David Boring"is more like watching a movie, but unlike in a movie you can take as long as you like to take in all the details of a scene. This is the strengh a comic holds over a movie. ( A movie has music, though, but you can`t have everything!)This volume is in a sense different from his longer stories in that they are short. Talk about stating the obvious. The thing is, you-or rather I- can't relate so much to the characters, because they don't get as much room. The book draws instead more heavily on the cynical humour. The other difference is that, being a collection of older stories, they often have a sense of humour straight out of the terrible depths of puberty.(Although a friend of mine who also draws comics once said that guys who draw or read comics never grow out of this phase. His words, not mine!)I can't really judge, cos I'm a girl.
