For a truly heartwarming love story of parent and child, don't miss this sure-to-be classic. I first heard this lovely tale read on "Grandparent's Day" at my kindergartner's school. With all the children sitting around on the floor at her feet, the teacher read and sang the story. Eyes misted, tears fell, and I was hooked. I am raising four of my grandchildren. We each have our own copy and we read...and sing the song of the heart. I also sent copies to my other two grandchildren who live out of state. I call them on the phone and sing "the song". If they are not home I sing on the answering machine. Next to receive the book will be my grown children. We are so blessed to be a part of Robert Munschs' inspiration. This is more than a book. It is an experience. I hope that when my grandchildren are my age, one of their fondest memories will be "Love You Forever"

My very best friend shared this book with me that his dear mother gave him as a gift. What a great gift. I cried the first time I read it, as well as the second time my friend read it to his own son. This book is great for any age, I'm an adult and I bought copies for my own mother, brother and sister. The pictures are unique, the message is one of love and caring, and realizing how precious life, family and loved ones truly are. In our all too busy world this book brings things into the correct perspective. My heart was truly touched by this book. Not since Charlotte's Web or the Chronicles of Narnia that I read when I was a child did a book touch me so much. No matter how many times one could read this book, it's guaranteed to bring a tear to your eye and to most importantly really make you think. I loved it, sincerely, and would reccomend it to anyone.I'm a better person for reading it.

When I was a child, my mother used to read me this book at nighttime. It was one of my favorites as well as my brother's. I'm currently away at college and far away from home. Yesterday, my friend and I went to the mall and ended up in the bookstore looking at all of our old favorite childhood books. I instantly picked up "Love You Forever" and read it. When I finished the book I found tears running down my face and realized why this had always been both my favorite, as well as my mother's favorite book. It's a classic story of the unconditional love that mother's have for their children and a must have for any parent. I'm trying to start a library of my own for my future children and thought that this would be a wonderful start. I would urge all mothers to read this book to their child, it's something they'll remember and cherish when they grow older - trust me!

This book has meant more to me than all others. I am 16 years old and yesterday I was in class and my teacher was talking to us about our first reading experiences in life. I instantly thought of this book and my eyes became a little misty. It has been SO long since I thought of it! I think every child should grow up with this book. Every year when you look back on this book you will find a deeper meaning within it. When I was young (3 or 4) I admired the funny illustrations and recited the poem every second. I also thought the ending was happy. But now, as I go over the book 12 years later I realise how sweet it is! I never realised the message of the book. It's a wonderful book, definetly, and I think all parents should bye it for their chilren AND for themselves. If you are a mother I'm sure it will touch very close to your heart. It's incredibly sweet. I love it!

This book is not meant to be taken literally, as if we are all supposed to climb a ladder to our grown children's bedrooms and hold them at night. The lengths the fictional mother goes to to hold and rock her child are humorous, and are a metaphor for the way many mothers feel about their children. (The illustrations showing the son at various stages of his childhood are also humorous.) When the son, as a grown man, later returns the favor and rocks his ailing elderly mother on his lap, the book takes a touching turn as the love is reciprocated. Later, he goes home and rocks his own son. I have read this book numerous times and have never been able to finish it without getting all choked up. Luckily, my daughter understands. It is a wonderful way to show children the "circle of life" and how love is woven through generations.

Ok parents . . this may sound a little weird, but bear with me. I am 15 years old, a sophomore in high school. Today after school I was talking to one of my friends who I went to elementary school with. Somehow our conversation turned to this book. My friend said something about a book that she used to love when she was little & it went something like this: "I'll love you forever, my baby you'll be." That line sparked my imagination & I too remembered that book. It was from 2nd gr . . our teacher had asked us to draw pictures from the book for mother's day. As soon as I got home, neglecting all of my homework, I went online to search for this book. With a stroke of luck I found it :o) Please buy this book for your children. I hope it will have as positive of an effect on them as it did on me.

My wife bought this book and it became my daughter's favorite. My wife cried everytime she read it. I decided to read it to my daughter and I too, cried. I had Rober Munsch on my radio show and interviewed him about the book. The book was written to honor the 2 still births that his wife had in two years. In fact the book is dedicated to these two babies. When I asked him about the mother going across town with a ladder to see her son, he explained that it should not be taken literally but rather figuratively that a mother will always be there for love WHENEVER! Mr Munsch read the book on the air and we had a bank of 5 callers waiting to talk to him. None of them could because they were all in tears. I feel sorry for the reviewers who call this book perverse. Read past the words. Open your heart. A wonderful book.

Robert Munsch outdid himself with this tale of a mothers love for her child. I came across this book myself when I was a teenage babysitter. Now, as an adult and a mother to four beautiful adopted children, my family has come to treasure the story of a child going through the stages of life and a mother who loves him unconditionally. If you hear anything negative about this book, I encourage you to get a copy and see for yourself. I would almost guarantee that you will become entranced and near tears when you read the words "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as you're living, my baby you'll be." In a small book, we learn the lengths that a mother goes to and what she endures for her children...and that no matter what..and above all else, she loves them just the same.

This book was given to me as a gift after the birth of my second son. I now have three sons. This is the most heartwarming, endearing book I have ever read. I can't read it to my sons without crying. It makes you realize how precious life really is. My boys are my world and to some of you if that makes me a sick person so be it. I can't believe how people have taken something so beautiful and tried to ruin it. The love between a mother and son is precious, my boys are all mommas boys. We read this book all the time, they each have their own copy. Someday when they have kids of their own they will read to them as I have done. To the writer of this book you are to be commended. This is the best book my children and I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I wish there were more books like it.
