If you are interested in the writings of Crowley, you will find that there are dozens of his books available. Though this one is rather pricey, it can save you a lot of money in the long-run -- most of his most essential magickal material is included here. This is a beautiful edition, with copious footnotes and endnotes, illustrations, and newly-done diagrams, and a great deal of biographical information as well.

Despite the criticism by others here about the re-hashing of old material, it is a common practice in the publishing industry to improve popular publications over time. I have found this edition of a timeless work to be particularly useful for its color plates and the five different indexes have proven invaluable on countless occasions.

I read this book, it's very very good and intellectual. Crowley's defined Magick as in scientific way. First part contained a good outline for the study of Yoga and meditation. Although it is far from a practical guide, his eight lectures on Yoga will do it. The second part contained a very advance detailed information on the magical tools, again, this part does not contain any basics for it. The third part is the theory and practice of magick, although Crowley seems to want it to cover all the basics ground of magick, it is not so. The reader which does not has background knowledge on Qabalah may be very confuse of the whole section and. Crowley refers back to 777 and many others of his liber. To study this part clearly mean that one must has 777 and other of libers but with the help of many sources on the internet, it become quite easy (except 777). Many techniques in this section are not for a first day beginner. The fourth part is about his book of laws, which I think the most perfect detailed and could be understood not so difficult by the beginners (which probably don't feel comfortable with the magical names and stuff). Anyhow, for a non-beginners this is great ! The information given in this book is far better than any book I've read. With a good big English Dictionary (he used a lot of funny <technical> words) and probably a small Latin dictionary. 777, Three books of Occult philosophy by Agrippa (I recommend Donald Tyson version because of its correction to Freake edition, 1651 AD). This combination will lead you beyond your imagination. For beginners, this book is probably the one you would want to have it in your library, if you are a serious student then you will use this book sooner or later anyway. If you think this book will give you a good start on Magick, probably it won't because of its great complexity. Try "Modern Magick" it's very good for beginners.

allerdings kann man sich das Geld für die Übersetzungen sparen und lieber zum Orginal greifen.

Aleister Crowley is in fine form here dispensing esoteric philosophy and step by step instructions on some of the most important and powerful magickal practices and ceremonies. The writing is carefully worded so that even beginners can grasp the concepts and gain insight from this most valuable text book. The book embodies two of Crowley's most important and famous works "Liber legis"(THE BOOK OF THE LAW)and "magick in theory and practice." The writing on yoga is among the finest i've ever read on the subject anywhere and is absolutly revolutionary for it's time. Crowley encompasses such a vast body of information in this book that it never fails to teach the student something new each time it is referenced.Anyone interested in pursuing the great work will find this an invaluable edition to their library.The beast may have indeed been mortal but his words shall endure until the end.PERDURABO!

This is one of the best Crowley books I have ever seen. "The Book of the Law" is here in a very fine reproduction from the original, (almost better than "The Book of the Law" book). This is a hard cover book. Anyone who has ever read "Book 4",(which is a paper back book with only parts 1&2 of this masterpiece, {although a very good book to have in your collection of Crowley material}) will want to have this very high quality book which includes these parts, ("1&2"). This book also has some very fine, and I might say "rare", photos, including one of "Mary Crowley" (Aleister's Wife, she is very pretty!!!), which you will cherish. You can hide this book in your closet, if you like, but it really belongs on your coffee table, next to your "sixteen pound" Bible! (or you can hide it under your Alter in your "baggi",{a Voodoo suitcase, box, etc,} if you like.) I would recommend this book to anyone intersted in Aleister Crowley, (the original AC of AC/DC), whether a novice in the "occult" or someone who collects occult "paraphenelia" and "books" of magick. This is one of those books you are "Supposed To Have"!!! A must for any Crowleyholic!! This injection will do you better than just the average Crowley "fix". This is the Crowleymania "Capstone"! (The Eye in the Triangle,.the completion of your own personal triangle or "pyramid", of power!) Crowleymania Exalta! (This is the "Blood and Pulp" from a nail!), This is Aleister Crowley!!! Aleister Exclesia, (of course). Long Live Aleister Crowley, the "Beast", "666", the Nature of Charagma!!!

This is definitely one of Crowley's best work on the basic mechanism of magick, in this volume, he gave a very detailed treatment on the subject. If there is anything a serious student must have, is this. Definitely worth its weight in gold!The best of the best! this book will take you far on the magickal path

This book has been the elusive guide to Magick, and unless you were lucky enough to be able to get the full edition from a collector, you had to search endlessly jigsawing such books as The Equinox of the Gods, Book Four, and Magick in Theory and Practice. Now your Crowleyana can be complete with this edition of Magick. The Beast is Dead, Long Live The Beast!
