I have waited for this baby sooo long and when I finally got in this in my hands, I put everything that I was doing away and started to read it.
Actually today I have abandoned my child to finish it:) She got some cookies that she normally doesn't get. Well, well, well...

This was my first book by Jane Costello. She writes "funny" and personally, but it is also very british. Since I'm used to the American slang, it was sometimes hard to understand, what the author is trying to say. There were lots of slang words and country specific Terms.... so I suppose this is great for english people, but not for the rest of the world.

The book ends nice and i enjoyed reading after i got into the story and the language style after all. The story plot is unique and very down to earth. The main character seems like someone who could live down the street. I liked that.
But i would probably not read another book by Costello.

Januar 2014
Rezension bezieht sich auf: The Wish List (Kindle Edition)
Four friends and one list. Emma is determined to do the things on the list before her 30iest birthday.

She asks her ex-boyfriend to help her learn the guitar (she broke up with him, because he proposed to her). It’s so funny to see how Emma trying to get her list done. The writing is so hilarious, with a lot of LOL moments there.

The man she thought she had a One-night-stand with, is moving in next door and he has a family. How is that going to turn out? I was really keen on finding out.

Matt, her neighbour, is the only one who doesn’t think the list is a stupid idea, which I think is really sweet. He supports her and they spend a lot of time together. She learns, that his wife is with another man now ...

Then Matt has to go to work in Island and the Northern Lights happen to appear there. He invites her and she takes the opportunity. The two of them get closer and there is definitely an attraction there. I was surprised about her being so “crazy” and her situation with men.

Something comes between her and Matt’s future and this makes the story even more interesting. I just didn’t know which way the book turned. The writing is so funny and gripping. The choice of words is superb.

There is one last gripping moment in the end, loved that one.

Emma and Matt all the way!!!!! I liked them together from the beginning. This book is just lough-out-loud funny!!! My first Jane Costello book and I fell in love with her writing! A definite must-read.

I have waited for this baby sooo long and when I finally got in this in my hands, I put everything that I was doing away and started to read it.
Actually today I have abandoned my child to finish it:) She got some cookies that she normally doesn't get. Well, well, well...
Back to the book. It was all that I love in a book, a typical Jane Costello. My favourite way of writing: short, sharp chapters, a lot happening, lovely and likeable characters and a lot of fun. Although I must say that this book was somewhat "darker" that all the previous books, I don't know, not so carefree but still funny, witty and warm.
I loved Emma, she was a kind of girl that I could be my friend, she was not perfect but she felt good in her skin and accepted herself like she is. She was not afraid to take risk, she was open and full of enthusiasm.
There are also friends of Emma, Asha and Cally, and each of them has her own story which are also very engaging and not so easy to solve. Rob was soooo "meh", really, such a girl, I wanted to shake him sometimes and told him: Be A Man please. But please show me where Matt is living, I'll take him even with his three sons:)
The story itself is really engaging. One can say, what is so original and new in Wish List and trying to achieve it but it is all about what kind of things are on this list and how Emma is going to achieve them. And she is doing it in a hilarious way, she takes us on a roller coaster ride with all its ups and downs. She is so prone to accidents, almost everything ends in a disaster and I was really laughing out loud reading this page - turner book. Especially when I read about her visit at the gyn. Or about the camping - disaster.
This book is thoroughly enjoyable and actually I liked everything in it. Jane Costello is absolutely in my top - ten favourite writers. All of her books were just jackpots. Already ready for her next book.
