Rezension bezieht sich auf: A Study in Sherlock: Stories inspired by the Holmes canon (Taschenbuch)
2011 is the year in which the new Guy Richie-movie and the new BBC-series about Sherlock Holmes reached the always hungry audience of Sherlockians in this world. And already in the second story in this book a murderous cabbie is looking for the inspiration to these new media-events. Alan Bradley, Tony Broadbent, Jan Burke, Lionel Chetwynd, Lee Child, Colin Cotterill, Neil Gaiman, Laura LIppman, Gayle Lynds together with John Sheldon, Phillip and Jerry Margolin, Margaret Maron, Thomas Perry, S.J. Rozan, Dana Stabenow, Charles Todd, Jacqueline Winspear and of course the two editors contribute their own modern take on Holmes and Watson but also on the following these literary inventions created and how they came over into the 21th century.

Naturally not everything is first class or necessarily interesting for everyone, but the is more than enough to justify to add this collection with sometimes highly original stories to one's own Holmes collection. Be it classical stories, chronological fillers to the canon or the new Holmesian detectives whose exploits sometimes come as a comic, a blog or a twinterview, there are a lot new ways to look at the Great Detective and his Boswell.
